1) I have heard that passport of non US citizen are kept by the Ship Crew for all the time of the cruise.
Is that true?

2) I have heard that to go on board after shore excursions you have to show a photo document.
Is that true?

3) ... if both are true I need TWO passports !!!!

I think everything is true except needing 2 passports. To reboard the ship, you'll show your room key and a picture ID.....a drivers license or other official gov't ID. If you live in the US, most states will issue an ID card like a driver's license to people who need an official ID but don't drive. You can call DCL...they have a dep't that answers documentation questions to see what photo id's are acceptable in addition to the passport, if you live outside the US.

Holy cow!

I live in the UK, and my Driving License doesn't have a picture on...the <b>only</b> picture ID I have is my passport, so asking DCL what other forms of ID are acceptable is a moot point for me! Does that mean I can't leave the ship?

I asked this question a while ago as here in the UK, photo drivers licences are not yet common and the only photo id I have is my passport! Apparently, if you're a non-US citizen, DCL give you a photocopy of the picture page of your passport so all of us "foreigners" can get off the ship after all!

So, do US citizens get to keep their passports?? We're taking passports, but I got to thinking.. I don't want to if they'll take it. Last year my hubby was NOT a citizen, and they kept his passport. He becomes a US Citizen in THREE days, so we're getting him a US passport. And I want to keep them, since they're so expensive and hard and time consuming to replace... Anyone know??

Wonderwoman - for US citizens, they will check your passport at the terminal (or your Resort check in if you stay at WDW first); but you will get it right back.
