Passport with Child Custody?

I have full custody of my 14 yr olds and have for ten years now. His father and I have been seperated for 12 years now. When I go to get his passport I understand I have to take the court papers pertaining to custody. His father has no problem signing for it but cannot come get it with me...is that going to cause issues? Is there anything else I should be concerned with taking with me? I know to cross the border last time we took a letter with us giving us permission to take him out of the country and photocopied his photo idea with signiture on the bottom and contact number. Should I have him do this again for the passport?

You will need the long form birth certificate. You will also need any custody papers, divorce decree/legal separation papers. If you have full legal custody of your child you are the only person who can apply for a passport. If you have joint custody you will require the signature of your ex but he does not have to be there. You indicated you have full custody? Is this full legal custody? If so those papers should have been enough before the passport regulations. You do not require your ex's siggy for anything. If it is joint custody or just a verbal agreement then yes you will require his signature.
