For those interested, my wife tried to drop off passport applications for our kids at the Surrey, BC Passport office today. There was a line approximately 2 hours long outside the building, then several hours more once you got inside. Since she had our 6 month old with her, she elected not to wait in the 2 hour line outside in the rain. She didn't think it would go over too well for some reason.

It seems that Surrey and Vancouver's Sinclair Centre are always crowded.

You may want to try Richmond. I was there 15 min. before closing. No line-up, in fact, nobody there. I got my number and was called right away. I showed them my paperwork and was done 10 min from the time I got there and the time I left.

It could've been a fluke. But it worked for me.

I don't like getting there before the office opens. There's usually a line-up already there. But it's the next best option.

I went a few weeks ago and waited for 6 hours!!! My silly hubby didn't give me his old passport so he had to go back and even with him passing the big line up outside to drop it off, it took him 4 hours! it was horrible. i didn't even think about the fact that Surrey is where people from surrey, langley, delta, chilliwack, abbotsford, new west, etc. go to. I hear Richmond is the best but you do not have the option to pick up your passport, if you're in a rush. Don't go Monday or Friday to surrey because it is supposed to be twice as busy.

You're right...in Richmond, you cannot pick up your passport. It's mailed to you. But if you're not in a super hurry to get it, mine was ready in the mail in about 7 working days. I was quite shocked by the speed it got to me.

Thanks for the suggestion. I may have to think about that.
