How long from the cruise embarkation date does a passport have to be valid? I've seen recommendations for six months until expiration, but will only have seven weeks left on mine as of cruise date, and plan to renew it AFTER we return.

Does anyone know if the six months is a rule, policy, or just a recommendation?

It is a legal and valid form of identification up through the expiration date. You should be fine. if you are concerned, you should call the State Department and ask. You should be fine, however.

You'll be fine, since at this point the Passport is only being used as a form of ID. If you were traveling abroad, you might encounter a problem, ie Europe, but to the Caribbean you'd be fine.

In the UK we are quite often asked to have our passports valid for ''90 days after the final day of travel''. This seems to be becoming the standard.
