Passport renewal turnaround time

How long does it take these days to get a Canadian passport renewed? Mine expires in August but I want to renew in the next month or so because I may be traveling in May and then again at the end of August.

I downloaded and filled out the simplified passport renewal form from the Passport Canada website. I checked out the FAQ and noticed that I can pay extra to have express or urgent service but if there isn't a backlog, I'm okay with waiting a little while.

I think it was only a couple of weeks when I got mine renewed in 2008. It was at the begging of May.

i just did mine and the renewl for the simplified was 2-3 weeks
if they mail it to you it is free and if you pick it up they charge $10.00
if you are doing your passport in toronto at Victoria St. make sure to be there for 7:00am the doors open at 8:00am but their will be a big line already at 7:00am

I got mine in exactly 1 week from the day I renewed mine. That was last Jan.

My son's girlfriend got hers in about a week this past December. It was really fast.

We had to renew DS's in Nov. --They said it would arrive in 2 weeks--We received it exactly one week after we completed the application process.
