I have to renew our passports as they are up in August of this year before we are due to go away.
I know I can take mine and the kids in but can I do dh's without him being with me?

If the rules haven't changed in the past year, he has to be there. However, you can also mail his in. I strongly recommend you do the application online before going.

Hey, sorry for the inaccurate info -- my husband had to get his passport a year ago, and he absolutely had to be there. Glad to see that has changed.

Here is one passport fact I am sure of, to redeem myself. If you have travel reservations made, you can get your passport in time provided you pay the appropriate fees and have your paperwork done/pictures taken, etc. It's true -- you can get a passport in as little as a few hours, actually. Just not sure why they make everybody else wait so long for them if they can do them that fast.

Well that is true-they can do same day. My FIL just had to do this last week to travel to the UK for his Brothers funeral however-it DID cost $70 over and above the regular fees!

I renewed mine at the Hamilton location..completed the forms online, DH dropped on Mon a.m and they were back here Wed afternoon! Not like it was a couple of years back!;)

Now-this is info for renewals..different for 1st time Passport.

We do ours online (there actually is no such thing as a renewal: you have to start completely over!) ... in Wpg there is a fast track line for online started forms. Very fast.

I have never had to have dh with me, just be accurate and have his original ID with you.

Oh that is such a good point about photos and signing! I was so surprised that I could be a signer for my SIL and BIL because I had a valid passport.

Love that rule change! I know a lot of people who had trouble finding somebody to sign their photos before that change -- people move around a lot more than they used to, I guess.

Yes--I went to my Bank Manager and it was she that told me that anyone could witness basically that it was me...saved a lot of running around.

Thanks - I've filled out the forms and will take them in next week sometime.

Anyone know how the wait times at the kitchener passport office have been?? Because of school drop offs I can't get there until about 9:45am!

ETA - also if I have the kids last passport with me is that enough id/proof to take with me or do I still need their birth certificate?

Yes, the last pp counts as a piece of ID but you need another piece I believe. You should try and do the forms online, saves a lot of time if you can. Just my experience.

but we're just doing the renewal and don't need a guarantor - can we still do the online ones?
