I've tried reading the UK passport office site with this question and it referred me to the French Embassy website and I couldn't find a definitive answer there. I think I know the answer, but if I get it wrong I'm left up a certain creek without a paddle.....

Does a UK passport have to have a certain length of time to run to allow entry into France? I have read that some countries insist on you having 6 months unexpired on your passport. :confused3 Does anyone know where I can find out for sure?

Don't quote me on this but I think it only needs to be valid for length of stay. I guess to be absolutely sure you will have to phone the French Embassy.

I'm sure someone else will know.

ETA: Just found this on the French Embassy site here. I guess it's good news!!

Brilliant - thanks for the link. When I clicked on this page earlier it came up with Error 404 page not found. So now I know, thanks.

Dtrs passport runs out 5 months and 24 days after our visit, so I was worried in case it had to be valid for 6 months.

I always thought it had to be valid for the length of stay but I then read somewhere ( not sure where though) that you had to have 3 months left when you return. I'm sure you will be fine with the amount of time left on yours though.

My husband's passport was due to run out the week after we returned...we had no problems though.

Actually, the French passport people didn't bother looking at our passports at all, although the British passport control scrutinised them closely.
