Just wanted to be sure my 8 and 10 year old still only need a birth certificate if I cross in the next few weeks? Thanks!

I believe everyone needs passport to cross border including all kids.:drive:

as long as your kids are under 15 and you are going in to USA by land or water they only need a birth certificate. as per the Canada Border Services Agency website. If you are flying they need a passport.

Yes, just Birth Certificates - just took my DD and her friends shopping in Buffalo two nights ago and the two friends are 15 and only had birth certificates - border guard didn't even hesitate when he saw them or question why they didn't have passports - you'll be fine, save your money for passports when it's absolutely necessary.

If you are crossing by land they are okay without them if you are going by air they need passports.

I know this isn't my thread, but I've go a related question. If kids don't need a passport to drive to the US(but do need them to fly), can we drive to Buffalo and then fly from there to Orlando if the kids only have birth certs?

Yes!

This question has been asked alot. If you are Canadian, but cross by land to an airport in the US, you will be flying domestic within the US therefore you will not ever see customs and will not need your passports.

As a side note, US airlines flying domestic don't even ask for photo ID when boarding the plane which I think is ridiculous!!

You are correct. However, you have to show photo ID to the TSA agent at the security checkpoint.

So in both countries, you must show photo ID before getting on the plane, just at different areas.
