Is a gratuity automatically added for a party of 6 when using the DDP?

Yes that is correct. Even if its two groups say, 3 and 3 but on the same ADR. Also true if someone in the party is not dining, still count though. DDP doesnt have anything to do with it though, its all parties of six or more or anyone using the DDE.

under three still count for party size however they eat free.

It doesn't matter. You could be a party of 6 which included 2 adults and 4 infants and the gratuity would still be added.
