Party of 5's First family trip to WDW! Just back from POR 6/16 *update 8/13 thoughts

Thursday June 12 , Day 5

So today was our designated sleep in day, no stitch call for us!

We are usually earlier risers anyway so we woke alittle after 8. We took our time waking and getting dressed etc. Our plan today was to go eat breakfast (the kids are starving b/c we never ate dinner) and we haven’t been to the food court much.

Then go back to DTD, get some pool time in at some point and make sure we are back at HS tonight for Fantasmic.

So we head over to POR food court for some breakfast. The kids all split some eggs and Mickey waffles. I had some fruit and a waffle. Dh had an omelet. After we finished breakfast we decided to take the riverboat over to DTD, that was a nice little ride.

Once we got there I doubled checked with Emma again to see if she had changed her mind about the my little pony box, she still said she didn’t want it, so we skipped once upon a toy store and headed for world of Disney.

Man that store is BIG, I can’t believe they don’t loose more kids in there!
Lauren and Emma each picked out some things using their gift cards. Joey was very anxious to get back to the Lego store!

Joey picked out an Indian Jones kit and filled a little bucket and Emma also filled alittle bucket. They were all very happy that they got to get some things.

After that we headed to the under $10 store Joey picked something out, then we stopped by the Pooh store.

Afterwards we went to Goofy’s candy shop for some treats to bring back for later!

We then took the boat back to POR and went swimming for awhile.
After our swim and rest we were all refreshed and ready to go hit HS again!
Again our plan was to eat dinner there. We all had things we wanted to do at HS b/c this is suppose to be our last time here… but is it??

So once we get there first place we go check out is the board up front that has all the FP times etc.. of course TSM is all gone for the day , ToT and RNR still have some left but the return times are tonight. We head over to Tot and get our first set of FP. I also had a child swap left over from Tuesday for both ToT and RnR that we didn’t get to use b/c of the storm.

I went up and asked the CM if we could exchange that for a “new” one b/c we never got to use it, of course they said yes.
DH came back from RnR and said that the FP were all gone now, bummer.. BUT he said some girls where leaving and they gave him 3 FP’s! yeah!! I also went and asked the CM if we could exchange our old swap for a new one and they said yes, plus we got the new swaps.. So we had 3 rides for each ToT and RnR coming our way!!! DH took the kids on RnR while Emma and I waited.

Then after wards we headed over to Pizza Planet for some dinner. It was pretty good, but it took FOREVER to get our food!! After we went over to Animators Studio, that is something Joey really wanted to check out, we must have just missed the next drawing class after the little show. And we didn’t want to wait another 20 min for the next one b/c I wanted to make sure we saw Fantasmic (since that is why we came back) and we still had all the Fps for the rides…


So we walked around a bit and saw this guy.

Joey was really bummed he didn’t get to do the drawing class, so we said we would try and come back another time.

We went and did the muppet show which was really cute! We then discovered there was no way now, that we could get any descent seats for fantasmic and decided to do the 10:30 show.

We then did the Great Movie ride, everyone enjoyed that too.
Joey and Lauren wanted to do ToT in the dark so that is where we headed next. The first Fantasmic show must have been letting out b/c the crowd to get down the street was crazy!

We did ToT and RnR and then thought we better start and get in line for the 2nd show, it was alittle crazy with everyone bringing their strollers so far up in the line but it all worked out.. We ended up getting great seats in the Mickey section! This was a GREAT show, we have never seen this before. Loved it! It is different from wishes so don’t think the two can really compare. I tried to take some pictures but didn’t turn out that great.

After the show the park was closed so we headed out, and caught a bus back to the hotel and called it a night. It was pretty late and we had to be up early tomorrow for a 8 am breakfast!!

Up next ur first AK day and where do we go in the afternoon??

The kids are adorable! We did Crystal Palace for dinner on June 28th. The food was great, as were the characters.

The treats from Goofy's look yummy! I can never decide what to choose, but everyone always likes any sweet souvenir treat I bring home from there.

Since we just got back home on Monday, I'm looking at your pictures and saying, "I was just right there!" over and over.

And I'll tell you a secret - I'd still like to be right there!!!

I need to go eat something sweet now after reading your update and seeing the pics of the treats from Goofy's! They look delicious! Mmmmm!

Great update! My kids LOVED seeing the food porn of the Candy treats! They are going to have to do that on our trip for sure!

I didn't realize that there were THAT many characters on that big boat at Fantasmic! Of course we missed it last time, so that is maybe why! LOL

Just caught up and your TR is great. So much fun! I stayed at POR twice when it was called "Dixie Landings" and loved it! It was the first on-site resort we ever stayed at, so lots of happy memories there! It's nice to have those days off from the parks to explore and relax. I think it's funny how you all kept forgeting to eat dinner. I can see us doing that on our trip. You just get caught up in trying to do everything!

Loved this update. We tried Goofy's candy company for the first time this trip too, sooooo good - best snack credit around in my oppinion. Aren't those lines at Pizza Planet ridiculous, we always wait forever there.
We've always considered the 10:30 Fantasmic show, how were the crowds? Did it look full? What time did you guys head in? How were the bus lines when you exited? You have me considering staying for the later show next year. Glad you liked the show and got to see it for the first time, I just LOVE fantasmic, and the Mickey section is the best!

We did good great seats for the show, I thought.. The child swaps helped out ALOT too, the CM's were all soo nice.

Hey Lesley thanks for reading! So lucky you can use a snack credit for Goofys so cool! Yes Pizza Planet was the longest CS wait by far...

The crowds weren't bad at all for the 10:30 show, I was alittle surprised b/c TGM makes it sound like if you show up around 10:15 you would be fine. we headed over around 10 and it was pretty crowded but the line moved along, it was a PITA with the stroller tho, once we got to "park" the stroller it moved very nicely and exiting wasn't bad at all, we took our time leaving and didn't wait that long for a bus, but we were ALWAYS use to standing by this time into the trip... From the crowds we saw leaving the first show, I would diffenitly do the later show if possible. We pretty much could have sat anywhere, I just remembered TGM's advice.
