Has anyone ever had a member of your party not show up on the day of the cruise? Did it cause any trouble, other than having to forfeit the party's fare?

Here's why I ask -- MIL fell and broke her knee cap, FIL has to take care of her, so neither are now going on our cruise which departs Feb. 12. They are the only ones in their stateroom, and they won't let me change both names, so we are going to change MIL to my mom, and add my dad as a 3rd adult in the room. We will leave FIL on the reservation, because they require you to have one of the original members on the reservation, or else it's a cancellation. Based on my conversations with reservations and shore-side guest relations, this will work. But I'm worried about what happens when he doesn't show up to board the cruise.

(I posted a day or two ago about this, but I wanted to update the situation with a fresh post -- hope that's ok!)

Based on my understanding (but not personal experience), what you describe should be fine. The no-show passenger will get their taxes and port fees back, but not the fare.
