I posted this on the community board but someone suggested I might get better ideas over here

My little girl is turning 8 the first of November we are having the party at my house, We will be inviting both girls and boys to the party, WE are going to try to get a bounce house but any other ideas or suggestion are welcome thanks:)

Does a local zoo or someone have a program where they come to you house with a few animals? We went to a party where they brought a tortoise, snake, lizard, hedgehog, and a few other things. It was cool and held everyone's attention.
Honestly though, if you get the bouncy house, you could probably get away without much else- except a few games to play maybe.... Kids will stay in those things all day if ya let them!

You could do a princess and knight theme. Princess wands for the girls, foam swords for the boys. There are tons of ideas online for a party like this and it could be really cute.

Or since you have a bounce house make it an Activity Party. Ya know something like "Games, Games Games".
You could get some pillow cases or potato sacks and have a sack race.

3 legged race.

Get a whole bunch of crazy adult clothes, have the kids get in 2 teams, split those 2 teams and put half at each end of a row and then have the kids race down to their box 1 at a time, put on all the clothes in the box, race back to the other kids on their team and take all the clothes off and then the next person has to put everything on. The winning team is the one who finishes dressing and undressing everyone and put the clothes back on the box. Its fun to add crazy clothes long sleeved shirts, skirts, floppy hats, scarfs, lots of items though. Its a ton of fun.

They have plastic trophies and gold medals at Factory Card Outlet to pass out as party favors.

You could pretty easily make a gold medal cake and have your daughters name written in the gold medal part. Take a 9 inch round cake pan for the medal part and a 9x13 pan with the cake cut down the middle and placed at the topin a V shape could be the ribbon part.

Ok, I will shut up now. I love planning parties, once I start talking I can't stop! :rotfl:

Have fun!!!

Disneyfamily.com has some things you could use if you go this way for the party. I just printed some off for a friend in Ireland.

having a bounce house I would go with a carnival theme. We did this 2x for my son and it was a huge hit. Games are very easy to make with things you have around the house. (I can give you more details if you are interested.) We had small bags of popcorn and cotton candy, a sand art station and inexpensive prizes.

We rented a bouncy house, actually it was a bouncy race thing, for my twins birthday. The company also rented us a cotton candy machine which was sooo much fun. We did bobbing for apples with a kiddie pool, and my dh took a piece of plywood (cheap at home depot) we put a bunch of little nails in it and hooked on balloons from dollar tree, it was a homemade dart game. Warning, you have to have an adult run this, we used real darts just like at a carnival. One child at a time and constant adult supervision. The kids loved it however, the biggest hit was the bouncy house thing. They did not want to get out! Serve dogs, popcorn, cotton candy, juice and water. Everytime I think we just need more "stuff to do" we don't. Have Fun!

My son, age 4 at the time, went to a bday party that there was a bounce house and they also had t-shirts for them to tie dye. Although it was a mess, the kids enjoyed themselves. My personal opinion is that 4 was a little to young to be tie dying and most parents, including myself, were covered in the dye, I think for an older age group it would be fun and a tad less messy.

Thanks I would love more ideas:)

Keep the great ideas coming!!!!

I stole this idea from another poster on another board, but it is so awesome!!! Go to an electronics/appliance store and get some large flattened boxes from out back for free. Tape them back up. Set them up in the backyard along with scissors, markers, paints etc. and let the kids have a great time decorating their own houses :thumbsup2

My son just turned 8 and we have a friend with a cotton candy and snow cone machine. When the kids arrived, they were given a paper bag to decorate with their name. Then they went to a ticket booth to get tickets which they could use to get cotton candy and snow cones all afternoon. They LOVED it :yay:

My DD just turned 8 and I know she would never go for a princess and knight theme. :sad2: Sad but ttrue.

She still loves her Disney Princesses and her room is still decorated to reflect that but I seriously doubt she would ever volunteer that information publicly. :rolleyes1

She recently went to a bday party where they tie dyed shirts. She loved it. And I love the carnival theme. We recently did that for an end of the school year party for DS's middle school last year. The kids had a blast.
