We are having a birthday party for ds but I can not figure out what to feed everyone. It is about 15-20 people (mostly grownups) and for lunch. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

When I have my kids family parties, I usually buy chicken, from Wal-Mart. Its yummy really. A sandwich ring. Then some sides, like macaroni salad, chips, brocoli salad, things like that.

And some appetizers prior to eating.

And of course cake and ice cream.

All kinds of choices for ya. You could make sandwiches-ham and cheese wrapped in foil with some sauce or dressing and heated, crudites and a fruit salad. Same fruit salad, shredded chicken sandwiches with chips. I've baked a lasagna, made garlic bread and salad. Sloppy Joes, chips, cheese tray, fruit salad. At really busy times in my life, I've ordered a cold meat tray and bought a few different types of bread. You could make a turkey and a ham, mashed potatoes with fruit salad(same fruit salad) and veggie casserole. I could go on but I know others will have ideas. How about spaghetti dinner?

Your relatives may be neater than mine but the one time I made rigitoni an adult relative, not a kid, spilled the whole plate right on my carpet. What a nightmare.

So from now on, I make nothing that is sloppy or with a red sauce. Just some food for thought. :)

My DD would vote for a sandwich bar. Lots of breads, meats and cheeses along with some veggies and dips!

For ease of early peparation, make some sides that don't need kept warm or cold. I'm not sure what kinds of things that could be, but will be interested in seeing if any savvy dis'ers have good ideas for OP.

Amen! Hoo boy, can I relate: My BIL once spilled a whole tray of eggplant parmesan!

I always make Knorr Spinach dip for an app! Nice and easy, just grab a package of knorr soup mix and follow the directions on the back.

Also, something fun for the adults and kids is a build your own Nacho station. Set up a table with chips and cheese and set up sides such as tomatos, beans, lettuce, etc! Super fun!

Thanks for all the great suggestions. My family, well as great as they are, are not the neatest eaters and combined with my light color carpets..... so I think no red sauce for them. :lmao:

My son loves the nacho station idea. He wants to do this with his friends at his sleepover the next weekend. Thanks for the great idea!:thumbsup2

I think we are going with a sandwich bar. I am going to get ham, turkey, and roast beef and swiss, american and provolone cheeses. How much of each do I get? I called a deli and they can't give me an estimate on how many pounds of each they order. We are up to 20 people now.

Thanks.
