We are going to WDW in two weeks. We have and Adr at Boathouse and at BOG. So, looking at the menu, I'm wondering about a few of the dishes and figured I'd try combining the questions in to one post.

So, first up is Boathouse. This will be our first time here and I'm excited to try some things here.
1. How is the New England Lobster Roll? Lots of lobster or skimpy? How is the dressing for the lobster and how does this compare to other Lobster Rolls at Disney? Worth the $29?
2. And on the subject of lobster, wondering how the Lobster Cocktail is. It says a "half chilled 1 1/4 lb lobster, creamy lady rose cocktail sauce". Is it really that much lobster? and what does half chilled mean? I was wondering if it means 1/2 a 11/4 lobster but why not say over 1/2 a lobster then, lol. These two dishes really sound good, but would like to hear opinions on them if some who have tried them could share!
3. Also, the Filet Mignon Sliders. Again, sound really good but worth it? And really is there much to them with the $14 price? The others are higher, makes me wonder if they are pretty small.
4. One more thing, the Panko fried Gulf Red Snapper. It's listed under Dock Side buckets, so anyone know how this is served?

I'm really getting hungry now, lol!

Next up is a BOG dinner. Curious about the Braised Beef, it sounds really good. Usually do lunch here and really enjoy the Braised Pork, But, I'm definitely more of a beef person and hoping to hear opinions on the Braised Beef. Also, I remember reading something about there being a birthday or special cupcake dessert plate that runs about $15 but don't see it on the menu. Anyone know anything about this?

And, one more. Olivia's restaurant at OKW. Thinking about the Scallops, they sound good, but not sure about the things it comes with. Anyone tried this? Maybe I could switch out for mashed potatoes? Also, how about the Buttermilk chicken? Not sure what it comes with. Do they have dark meat at all or only white?

Thanks to all who read here(sorry so long!), and can share their experiences with any of the dishes! And if you had something else that was great, or even to stay away from, lol, please share! Thanks!!

Two of my family members have had the braised beef and really like it. I don't like braised things, so I did not try it. My husband has had both the braised pork and the braised beef and prefers the beef by a slight margin.

I think Boathouse has the best lobster roll on property. My last one was too full to eat as a sandwich, you had to use a knife and fork.

Is it the best I have ever had? No, that honor goes to a dive in New England, but it's pretty good!

A 1/2 of a a 1 1/4 lb lobster is not a lot at all. That is one tiny claw/ arm and half a tail. Not much body meat in that tiny lobster.
I guess it is worded that way because it is half of a chilled/cold lobster.

I have a friend who always has the chicken at Olivia's. I had and enjoyed the scallops more than once. I am sorry that I do not remember the sides.

Thank you, definitely a beef person here, so if it's even better than the pork, it should be yummy!

Oh wow, that sounds awesome with all that lobster! Might have to try this! I've had at CHH which is okay, and on the boardwalk and didn't like it as much as CHH. Thank you!

Thanks for this description, don't wanna spend $19 on not much of anything, lol. That'd be gone in a quick hurry, lol!

Thank you! I looked up the scallop sides again and it's soft polenta and edamame succotash. Never had polenta or succotash, lol. I was reading polenta is sorta like grits and just remember not liking grits at all as a kid!
Hmm.
Thanks Dissers!

It's poorly written. It should say "half of a 1 1/4 lbs lobster, served chilled, with creamy lady rose cocktail sauce."

Well, you are so right, IrishNYC, it is definitely poorly written! Your's sounds much better, lol! TY!

My BF loves the sliders at the Boathouse. They are definitely on the smaller side. He had a side salad and the sliders and was happy though. To me they looked a bit dry and lonely on the plate. And you would definitely have to get something with it, on their own they are more a snack than a meal. However, he says they are excellent in taste and he has ordered them on several visits to the Boathouse.

So, just checking back in after our visit. We ended up going to the Boathouse twice over our 8 day trip. The first time I had the Lobster Roll. It was really good, had lots of lobster on it! Afterwards, I wished I'd eaten a little less of the bun, but still was a great sandwich! DD27 has the Salmon and really loved it! I think it was cooked and served on a small plank. We also shared a side of the mac & cheese made with med sized shells, pretty big, and it was great, really enjoyed it! There was something different about it, just reminded me of thanksgiving or something, couldn't quite put my finger on it but loved it, lol. I asked and they checked and thought it was probably Gibson Steak seasoning they used on many things. It was offered on the table, along with the S & P. We had a margarita and a Blueberry (vodka) lemonade, both very good!

A few days later we decided to go back. We both had the Filet Mignon sliders and they were great! Seems small at first, but were definitely satisfying! Came with fries, but I switched my side for a small mac and cheese side. It was still good, though cheesier and not quite as tasty as the first day, but maybe cause they were lots more creamy and I think I preferred a bit less creamy. Added a little of the gibson steak seasoning and it was good! We both had the Blueberry lemonades this day, and again very good. DD27 also enjoyed her fries.

Oh, and the Dockside buckets are served with breaded fish pieces

Just thought I'd share in case anyone was interested since I had asked about their dishes here!

I am wondering which dive in New England you are referring to? I relocated from Boston area to Tennessee after 48 years and I miss the lobstah (yes no R on the end ) and the beach so much! Kelly's on the beach has the best lobstah rolls! My next vacation after Disney will be back home for a beach vacation and lots of lobstah!
