anyone stay in either of these? preference? These would be my 2nd & 3rd choices
Im about to call and reserve for next Aug - can I only request Magnolia Bend vs Alligator Bayou? or will they let me put a preference for a bldg?

I was told Parterre Place is a perferred location, so you will pay a little bit more for that. Acadian House on the 3rd floor facing the river is suppose to have nice views of the water. Acadian House looks farther away on the map from the Main area for the restaurant, lounge, shopping, etc. You can request certain buildings, but they are not guaranteed. Check in early for best chances.

Beware. I specifically requested the Mansions -- any Mansion -- and we ended up getting Alligator Bayou anyway. No assurances whatsoever that you'll get the Mansions.

I'm going to POR tonight for the weekend and requested the mansions. I think I said Panterre Place, but I can't remember. I'll let you know if I get my request.

I stayed in Parterre Place this past June-- didn't pay for a preferred room but it was so close to everything I was wondering if I had been upgraded!

While it was very nice, after we walked through the bayou section I found myself kind of liking that better anyway. Seems like there are more trees and less wide open spaces.....

There are no preferred buildings in the POR only CBR. You would pay extra for a waterview room or a king bed room only.
I stayed at the POR in 2002 and stayed in Oak Manor which was right next to Parterre Place. I like the Oak Manor location, part of the building is smoking but I was on the first floor, which was non smoking.
Parterre Place is close to the main building, you just walk over the bridge. Acadian House would be closer to the main pool, so depending on what you want to be closer to.
There is a quiet pool between Parterre Place and Oak Manor, which was nice, the laundry facilities were right there as well.
I'm sure that just like at any Disney Resort a request for a building is just a request. If you ask for a building in Magnolia Bend, and there are no rooms you will be placed in a building in Alligator Bayou

We are just back from POR on Sept. 18th. We had originally requested Magnolia Terrace but got Paterre Place. The place is recently renovated and everything in our room was brand new and I mean brand new. The room looked like no one had stayed in it but us. The walk to the food court bus stop was about 5 minutes and the quiet pool about 2-3 minutes. I was very pleased with this Mansion and would stay there again.

Thanks for this info. I am seriously considering trying to change my res from POFQ to POR - so many people here rave about POR that I thought I might try it this time. Actually, I did try last night, but the CM convinced me to stay at POFQ - she said it is gorgeous since the renovations were completed and it just reopened not lone ago. Still, I hate the Mardi Gras decor - masks give me the creeps!

Was Paterre Place non-smoking? What did you have as a view?

Thanks much in advance.:wave2:

I just got back from POR (9/19- 9/25) and we stayed in Acadian House. We were in room 8063 facing the quiet pool which was between Acadian House and Magnolia Terrace. I thougth we had a great location. We used the East Depot which wasn't more than a 5 minute walk. The lobby and marian wasn't more than a five minute walk either. I don't know if our room was renovated, since it was my first time visiting POR but the room always smelled really clean when we came back from a long day at the parks. The room was non-smoking, and I think the whole side of the building was non-smoking. We were originally assigned to a room that was towards the back of the building, but the door would not shut, therefore we were moved, which was great cause we had a corner room with 2 windows, and a better view. I don't think any of the buildings would be bad, casue the whole reosrt is beautiful, and the walks are very nice.

Paterre Place was non-smoking and we had a standard view, 1st floor room overlooking the parking lot. Wasn't the greatest view but we don't spend much time in the room and it only was probably 30 yards from our door to our van. The trees in front of Paterre Place are so big I don't think I would spend the extra for the water view because there isn't very much chance of having a good view with the trees.
