Just got back from a Magical trip to the World. Our Cast consists of Myself, the planner and Disney Commando, DH, doesnt care what we do, my Mother, who has come on a few trips with us now and always loves what I have planned, Cameron 7 and Colton 4. This was their 7th & 6th trips respectively so they have a good grasp of the place. I wont go into dining reviews here as I posted them on the Restaurant Board. I also went into more detail about the resorts on the Resort Board.
Saturday
I woke up this morning with thoughts of Kona Café dancing in my head. We had PS for 7:30, so once again we were up bright and early and on our way. As always, breakfast was very yummy and very filling, but we managed to roll ourselves out of there and get to the MK before opening. As I noted in yesterdays write up, I was surprised at how much less crowded MK was today than it was yesterday. I always thought Saturdays were supposed to be the worst day here.
We only had a few things that we hadnt done here that we wanted to, so since there were no lines we figured we would go back and redo one of the kids (ok, all of our) favorites, Buzz Lightyear. DH played the role of runner again (did I mention hes fast) and right away he went to get FPs for the Jungle Cruise. We were able to walk on Buzz twice with no wait, meeting up with DH between rides. As we exited the first time a CM was directing us to the right, near the theater, and I couldnt figure out why. Then when we came out the second time we saw Buzz was having a meet & greet over there. There was no line at all so the kids went for a picture. While in the area we also had to ride Tomorrowland Transit Authority, another one of the kids favorites, again. They wanted to do that twice too so we asked if we could just stay on. There was no line to speak of so of course they let us.
While heading to the other side of MK, we were given a handful of FPs by a stranger. We really lucked out! There were 5 for Thunder Mt, 5 for Haunted Mansion, and 1 for Splash. The Thunder Mt ones could be used immediately so we went for it. Again DH, Colt and I went on, then DM and Colt went the 2nd time. It was now time for our JC FPs. On the way there, Colt saw Splash Mt and said he wanted to go on that again. We were loving this!
Finally one of our kids wants to ride the thrill rides
and is tall enough for some. Im glad he hated it so much.
So, we grabbed FPs for Splash and continued on to the Jungle Cruise. Our boat mates werent a lot of fun here, but the skipper did a very good job. I laughed a lot, but not many others did.
Now we were waiting for our Splash FP time and Cam suggested we ride the Pirates of the Carribean again, so since he wasnt doing the Mts, we did that again for him. It was so hot out, a ride through POC was just what we needed. After that it was time for Splash. Only Colton, DH and myself rode this time.
It was now that DM took off to the Emporium, one of her favorite places in WDW, for more shopping while we went to another attraction, great for blowing off some steam, Tom Sawyers Island. The kids love anything where they can run around, but this is definitely one attraction I could live without. The last thing I want to do is more walking, LOL! This was definitely the hottest day of the week. It's how we expected Florida in July to be.
After trying to make a quick exit from TSI, we went to use our gift FPs for HM. Cam who used to refuse to go on this now really likes it, so maybe there is hope for some thrill rides for him in a few more years. Things seem to grow on him.
We decided to head out now for a pool break. We had PS for Ohana at 5:00 so we knew we would only want a light lunch. While walking toward Main St, I had the idea of ice cream from the Main St Parlor for lunch. No one complained about that one so we stopped and ate before heading back to the Poly.
Finally we were able to get the front of the monorail on this trip. I think riding up front is getting very popular because we found it difficult to get the front this time. In fact, even when we got it, we were told the train we were getting on was the Contemporarys for the day and if someone was waiting there, we would have to get out. But in the end we were able to make it all the way to the Poly, and we were given Co Pilot Licenses.
Upon arriving in our room we found Mousekeeping messing around with our shower curtain. Long story short, I had left a note saying the shower light was out (it had been out a couple days and not fixed so I just thought Id mention it). The mousekeeper didnt speak English and thought my note was about the shower curtain so she was trying to give us a new one. After wasting some time sitting in DMs room I finally went in grabbed our suits and started getting the kids ready over there.
Finally we were off to the pool. We were there only a short while when at about 2:30 the lifeguards announced they had to close the pool. This was the hottest day of the week and the pool was mobbed! I immediately grabbed our stuff and ran to the quiet pool to grab a couple chairs while DM & DH got the kids together. Luckily I was able to get a couple chairs as they did fill up fast. We had assumed there was an accident in the pool, but in the end the lifeguard said it was due to the chemical level being too high. UGH!
After a while at the quiet pool, it was time for us to get ready for dinner. After washing up we arrived at Ohana at 4:55 to see a big line checking in. In the end we were seated at 5:15 so it wasnt too bad. This is another one of those meals where you eat way too much, but its so worth it.
After dinner we went back to the MK planning on seeing Spectro Magic & Wishes there. We also thought we could get in a ride of Buzz, so DH went to get FPs. It was about 7:30 and as I looked around Main St, I was totally bummed out. What an awful feeling being there knowing we had to leave tomorrow. But the trip wasnt over yet. We did a little bit of shopping before grabbing our seat on Main St for Spectro. DM had never seen this and really wanted to, so I wanted to be sure we had a good view. Our FP time for Buzz ended up being 8:05-9:05 so we decided to just skip it and stay in our seats as Main St was filling up fast. While sitting there a family walked by with a kid in a stroller chanting Buzz Lightyear Ride! Buzz Lightyear Ride!.
Then I thought of the FPS we had and pointed the family out to DH (he had the passes). He chased them down and gave them our FPs. Boy were they excited.
While we sat there we all got more and more tired. It was like we finally stopped the running and were ready to crash. Im sure the big meal didnt help either. We decided we would go back after Spectro and watch Wishes from the Poly. This worked well as we made it back just about 9:45. We went right along the marina where we had a great view and we could hear the soundtrack too. DM had told us she would take the kids back to her room that night and DH & I could go to the Tambu Lounge for a few drinks. By now Colton had crashed in the carriage, Cam could barely keep his eyes open, and DM wasnt far behind.
They decided to head back even though Wishes wasnt over. DH went too to get the sleeping Colton changed and washed up. So, I was left alone with my video camera to tape Wishes. HOW can you miss Wishes?
I met them back at the rooms to help finish getting the kids to bed and before long DH & I were on our way to the Lounge. We had a couple drinks there but it was really cold and the cold drinks didnt help much. We ended up get another round to take back and have on our balcony. It was a great way to end the trip. But, there was still a little more fun for the boys to be had tomorrow.
