Part 1
Part 2
Quick Recap: moi, Disbug is here for our first stay at the Polynesian with DD2, DD9 (WDW enthusiast), DD15 (WDW-Bah Humbug! Needs surgery to remove Sony Walkman headphones from ears!) and DH who has not arrived yet... but will follow us here sometime tonight...
Well here we are right smack dab in the middle of Tomorrowland after oohing and aahing our way down Main Street USA in the Magic Kingdom. As we wind our way through the crowds and gaze at all of the Christmas decorations... OK, in reality I am the only one gazing, oohing and aahing, and I did make a few stroller faux pas, as I was not paying attention to impending foot traffic coming at me like a trout swimming upstream! I am making a half-hearted attempt to spot any aliens milling around Buzz Lightyear, thinking that maybe the Zurgs may still be somewhere in the area! No Good! I am LATE (according to Ellen DeGeneres...and I'll think about THAT next time!)
Oh, well... we can all cheer up and go on a ride! How about SPACE MOUNTAIN? OK, How about Space Mountain? If we had, had FAST PASSES we would be able to ride sometime just before the park closed at Midnight or we can jump in line and wait a mere 120 minutes. (I wonder if that is Earth time or Space time...) Right THEN, I realize I had FORGOTTEN the GAC (Guest Assistance Card) which is very handy for families with a Disabled Member. I slap my forehead (knocking off my cheery little Santa Hat) and say to the kids (DD9 and DD15)... "Hey, Kids! Why don't you ride the TomorrowLand Transit Authority a few times (Wedway People Mover for the Old Timers) then grab a bite to eat at Cosmic Rays while I head back to the Front Gate and get the GAC?"
Doesn't seem that hard since I plan on strolling to the Train Station in Mickey's Toontown Fair and jumping on for a quick stop and then back on for the return trip.... seems good on paper! In reality it was about one hour round trip and I return to 2 very unhappy kids who had NOT ridden any rides OR gotten any dinner because they said "the lines were too long"!
About now I have to stop laughing long enough to "esplain" to my 2 little "Lucys" that this is CHRISTMAS WEEK at DISNEY WORLD. REALITY CHECK! THERE WILL BE LINES!!
Dinner at Cosmic Rays consists of a Chicken Caesar Salad for DD15 (my wannabe kinda, sorta vegetarian). And DD9 and I wander to the next counter looking for our fave ROTISSERIE CHICKEN with HOMEMADE MASHED POTATOES! yum! Well, as we get to the front of the LINE there is a bit of a Bru Ha Ha going on... seems the RUMOR is... they are OUT OF MASHED POTATOES!!
JUMP BACK!! Isn't there a law against putting french fries next to rotisserie chicken? If there isn't, there SHOULD BE! Everyone keeps passing back the rumors that "Mashed Potatoes will be up in 30 minutes..." Then it changes to 2 minutes... then back up to 20 minutes! By the time the Mashed Potatoes are being optioned on the Futures Market, we get our meal (WITH the prized MASHED POTATOES, I might add!) I am LOL at this point going "COULD THIS DAY GO ANY MORE WRONG??" DD15 is finished with her meal and ready to head back to the POLYNESIAN! OK Sweetie! SEE YA! It is only 6:30 PM....and she has had enough. Poor thing! It is sad to see a teenager go through this Disillusionment Phase!
DD9 and I are still UP! UP! UP! after all this is a WONDERFUL PLACE TO BE AND A BEAUTIFUL DAY TO BE HERE! We stroll slowly back towards the Front Gate taking pictures and I am tempted to stay for the SpectroMagic parade at 8 PM, but it is still an hour away and I don't think DD2 will last that long.... So, we take a few more pictures as we head back to our lovely "Home Away from Home" at the Polynesian!
LITTLE did I realize...THIS WOULD BE THE END OF MY VACATION! THE REAL FUN was fixing to start tonight!
