DH 37
Me 35
and DS 6th birthday!
OK we last left off waiting for DS to wake up for his birthday. Guest services gave me a bunch of balloons for him to wake up to which he loved.
I have to digress here. It was during this day we found out that Steve Irwin had passed away. I just have to mention that DH and I watched his shows religiously since 1996 and Ds grew up watching him and he is really missed in our household. I feel horribly for his family and could not stop thinking about them the entire trip. So we miss you Crocodile Hunter!!!
So Chris finally woke up and saw the balloons which made him happy. We went to DTD to have breakfast at the Rainforest Cafe. Breakfast was good service was slow but he had a great time. They came out and sung to him and gave him a dessert. It was cute. I really like how the themeing is totally different than the RC at The world. The outside is like a mayan temple.
I also have to add how much we like DTD at Disneyland. The fact that they have so many shops is great. It is a totally different experience than WDW's. The fact that you can walk right out of the Grand Californian and into DTD is awesome! I have to stress again that Disneyland is definitely better for people who have mobility issues. My inlaws would definitely enjoy DL since it is getting harder for my FIL to do The World. The parks being close together and DTD all within walking distance of each other is FANTASTIC.
So after heading over to Disneyland we stopped at town hall got his sticker and then we did all the required rides. I definitely like the Buzz ride better in DL and space mountain is amazing! We were very impressed with Pirates too. The Indiana Jones ride was awesome it is the samle as Dinosaur! with different themeing obviously.
We had booked the birthday party decorate your own cake thing at the Plaza Inn. That was adorable. The whole experience with that was cute. Pat E Cake (the party coordinator sort of) comes out singing and doing a show then each person gets a cake to decorate they have a constest and then Mickey and Minnie come out to dance with everyone and then you can get your picture taken with them. It was really cute and it is only $10 per person. You can make reservations through Disney dining. They even get to take home the party hats, a happy brithday cup and stickers.
We then made the rest of the day going back and forth between parks letting DS pick out toys he wanted at his favorite attractions. He absolutely loved the mullholland madness coaster and the monster's inc ride. He even got to see Sulley!!!! I love the fact that they have different attractions than the world. Even Tower of Terror was different. It isn't as scary as the one at the WORLD DS loved it too. We saw Lightning McQueen and Tow Mater drive on by and stop to take pictures. That was really awesome!
For dinner we ate again at the Storytellers Cafe since DS loves pizza and what a better way to have pizza on your birthday than to make your own. It was fun. They also sung to him there so his birthday was filled with happy birthdays and at the happiest place on earth how couldn't it have been great
Staying at the Grand Californian made returning to the room to change clothes or hop into the pool or have dinner. Having the hotels entrance located actually in the California Adventure park is indescribable! It completely ruins us. We are so spoiled. Nothing comes close to being able to step right into the park from the hotel. That alone makes it worth the $$$ to stay. The fact that iot also has an entry way in DTD too is amazing!!!!!
