Day 2 - Jan 26th
Mickey woke us up at 7am so we could make it to early open at Magic Kingdom. The bus was there waiting for us and made it in plenty of time. It was nice out, about 45 degrees. There was next to no one there waiting to get in. When they opened, we decided to head to Space Mountain (hadn't ridden it in years due to kids always being with us). But they said it would be opening a little late due to computer problems. So we ran onto the Space Jets, just us and another family on there. They said we could ride again but I was already a little dizzy. We headed back over to Space Mountain and it was getting ready to open so they were letting us go through the line. After that we went on Buzz lightyear. It was too funny, when we have the girls, I usually go with the 3 year old and Lane goes with the 1 1/2 year old and he always win. Now with 2 kids, we went on twice and I kicked his rear both times....with about a score of 300,000.
We then walked through Fantasyland, didn't need to go on anything since we have been on a million times with the kids. The basis of this trip was to do stuff we never get a chance to do with kids. So we walked over to the changeover from FantasyLand to Haunted Mansion and had to wait about 10 minutes for the official open. We were first in line behind a crazy old man who kept talking to himself. We were waiting and waiting and waiting, they kept us waiting for 20 minutes before they let us on!!! Enjoyed it as usual, kept an eye out for the hidden mickey with the plates in the ballroom and it was there!
It was only about 9:35 at this point and we were pleased to see they were selling popcorn already, haven't come across popcorn until early afternoon in the past. So we got our "breakfast" and was there was a walk on to Thunder Mountain. And then we waited to get on the first boat over to Tom Sawyer Island to search for the paint brush. Sure enough, we start walking around and found one of 3 they had hidden for the day. We knew we should leave it for the kids, but LOL we had to take it!!! I had thought in the past they gave coupons for a free soda or ice cream but we got a fastpass for thundermoutain or splash which was disappointing cause there was NO line anyway!!!! So we kept the coupon as a souvineer.
After thinking about it, it had warmed up a bit and we were going back to the hotel to drop off our jackets so we went on Splash Mountain. BIGGGGGGGGGG mistake! I got soaked. Not wet, SOAKED! I was one uphappy person. So off we went to back to the hotel. Our room had been cleaned and we were disappointed to find no recognition of our anniversary. It was our only full day in the hotel so we knew it wasn't gonna happen for us. I know you aren't supposed to expect anything but I know they took time to read our requests as we got all three but didn't special note our anniversary. It was on our ressies too!
Anyway, in dry clothes, we headed to the food court. I had chicken fingers and Lane had a chicken quesidiila <sp?>. Both were good and we were full and ready to head to Epcot. Once again the bus was waiting for us when we went to the bus stop. When we got there we headed towards Test Track first passing the Jammitors and their trash can drumming act which was really neat! We then got a Fast Pass for test track. The line was only 10 minutes long (and seeing when we went in it wasn't even that long) but we got the fp anyway and headed over to Body Wars which was really jerky, even for me who loves rides. Then we went back over to Test Track which was fun except for when it broke down for a few minutes in the middle of it.
On the way out, they have something new I'd never seen before called Dreamchasers brought to you by GM. 20 people sit in chairs that spin and you look into a facepiece with projector. It was neat but we waited in line like 20 minutes for it and wouldn't again.
We had gone by Universe of Energy earlier but it was broken down. We went back after Dreamchasers and it was open so we went on it, it's cute. After that we checked out Innoventions, we hadn't done that before. There is some neat stuff to do in there!!! I quite enjoyed it. There was a game called Thing a Ma Gig. 15 or so people make an invention and then you play to collect points. I was so surprised when the totals came up and I had won 1st place. I got a score of 98,xxx. The next highest was $77,xxx. Whoo hoo! LoL.
We then went over to Journey to Imagination, hubby hadn't been on since they brought back Figment and he thought it was very cute. And then we walked right into Honey I Shrunk the Audience. We then went into the Land and rode the ride which I hadn't done in probably 15 years! I thought it was quite neat.
After that we went over to World Showcase and found a nice seat for Tapestry of Dreams which is my fav! We then went for our usual dinner at the counter service in China but my food was really yuck this time around, was disappointed. We decided not to wait around for Illuminations so we went over to Poly to watch the water parade. When we got to the Poly we found out that the water parade wasn't coming for another hour and a half so we just sat on the beach and watched the castle change colors and enjoy being alone for awhile. It was truely romantic and nice! Got an ice cream bar, checked out the score of the Super Bowl game in the lounge and headed to Downtown Disney to look in the big Mickey store.
Didn't buy anything and got on the bus back to the ASMu where we ran into Sybah Shelstah from the boards who was doing Disney solo. She's a really nice lady and we enjoyed chatting. We chatted a bit longer after we got off the bus and parted ways. We were in bed by 9:45! LoL, I know, all by ourselves in Disney and we were in bed earlier then our kids probably!
