The last day of our trip dawns and I whistfully sip my Starbucks Columbian on the balcony of our room in Tokelau. This has been SOME trip, but one I don't think we will ever forget! We didn't ride any rides as a family... In fact I can count on one hand how many rides I went on! DD15 and DD9 did not ride ANYTHING... poor dears! But the days were BEAUTIFUL! The resort was FABULOUS and everything I could have imagined! I loved the location and the spaciousness of the room. I was pretty much packed from last night, so only a few things remain. I had to ice up the Chardonnay and Coronas which went home unopened! I did get to have one Corona last night... I remember trying to find some way to open the bottle since the bottle opener had gone home with DH!

We do one last look around the room, then off we go to pick up the car and head to DTD. Before leaving I talked to the Front Desk Mgr about getting a "Come Back" rate and she said she had been thinking of offering one to us. Since we were leaving she said to expect something from them in the mail...

We arrive at DisneyQuest with 1/2 hr to spare and get in line... which was already pretty long! By the time we started going in, the line was like a snake and we couldn't see the end! I was a DQ novice and DD9 had been before so I was relying on her to guide me! Luckily while standing in line we met a nice family who gave us a lot of tips! We immediately ran to what we thought was the 2nd floor... keep in mind I'm not leading, I'm following! Somehow we end up on the 5th floor! (Don't ask!) So back down we go with instructions from a CM how to get to "Build your own Rollercoaster!" THAT WAS SO FUN! Our next ride was the "Aladdin's Magic Carpet Ride" and was NOT worth the wait! Those head sets are so HEAVY you cannot hold your head up and ride this motorcycle looking thingee... I kept running my carpet into walls like everyone else and I'm not sure, but I think we rescued someone? The princess? Maybe the genie? I was busy adjusting my virtual reality gear! LOL!

The most awesome ride and totally worth the hour we waited for it was "Pirates of the Carribean"! I wanted to do it again! We were paired with another group of 2 teenage girls, who I had to listen to as they gossiped in front of us for a solid hour! (I mean she is so totally bogus! She thought I didn't know she was lying through her teeth, but I just smiled and let her think I was still her friend!) PUHLEEZ! Do kids learn that kind of cunning THAT early?? Well, when they were teamed with us as canoneers, I have to admit they were pretty good sharp shooters! I was the Captain and had to DRIVE THE BOAT! Either that or nobody thought I could hit the broad side of a barn with a canon! LOL! WE WON! Caught the bad guys and sunk a lot of ships! What a GREAT game! Do NOT miss it if you have a chance to visit Disney Quest!

We were hungry, no starving now and thirsty so we headed to the 5th floor for lunch at the Cheesecake factory! DD9 had pizza and I had the Chicken Caesar salad which was a little salty, but not too bad, really! After we were re-energized with calories, we went to ride the Buzz Lightyear Bumper Cars, but they were down for repair... Bummer! We also tried the River Raft Ride... it was just okay! Got to see 2 parents who REALLY wanted to ride trying to talk their little kids into riding, but they were terrified when they saw the dinosaurs while waiting in line! The parent's managed to get them in the boat but as soon as the parent's climbed in, they started screaming and climbed out... They were NOT a happy mommy and daddy, I'll tell ya!

We finally got to a point where we felt like we had had enough and DD9 wanted some ice cream so we headed out to explore DTD West Side a bit and get an ice cream. We found a Haagen Daas store and got a cup and a cone and paid $9 total. The ice cream was TERRIBLE! I happen to like Haagen Daas, but the pecans in the Butter Pecan were rancid tasting, as in old and both of our ice creams had ice crystal clumps in them! This indicates that the product had been allowed to thaw. I should have taken them back, but I was ready to go home by that point. So we walk slowly back to the car.

I usually don't buy gas before we are well off Disney Property, but I was loathe to leave so I pulled in at the Exxon station near DTD. DD9 had to have a bathroom break as well, so it all worked out! WE WAVE GOODBYE TO ALL THE LANDMARKS WE PASS AS WE ARE HEADING FOR I-4! GOODBYE MICKEY! LOVE YA, MEAN IT! (WE'LL BE BACK!)

I'm glad you were able to make the best out of every situation.

I always hate leaving, the ride to the airport is always so tough :( .

It was fun to write! Did the pictures take too long to load? I see some people post their photos on a separate website when they do a trip report... Is it easier or what?

I enjoyed reading your trip reports. Thanks for taking the time to do them.

How were your DDs? What did the Dr. do for them?

Hopefully your next trips will go off without a hitch!

I did leave out a significant part, didn't I?? It's my pre-Alzheimers kicking in again... sorry!

DD15 turned out to have bronchitis and was given anti-biotics and an asthma inhaler. *Even though she had heretofore never exhibited asthma-like symptoms.

She recovered just in time to have her wisdom teeth extracted this past Friday! (Yes, all 4!) And after she recovers it will be just about time for the braces to go on her teeth!:teeth:

DD2 was a little more complicated... She was diagnosed with a slight ear infection and flu like symptoms. They gave her an anti-biotic and some albuterol for breathing treatments.

When DD9 and I arrived home about 5 PM, I learned that DD2 had been asleep since 11 AM! It was hard to wake her, so I put her in the tub for a bath. I asked DH to feed her while I contacted the DR. While trying to feed her she kept falling asleep so, I immediately called the pediatrician back with this info...she insisted we head to the Emergency Room. I knew her fever was back and had given her another Tylenol-Motrin cocktail before her bath.

When the Dr. called back I was posting on the Disboards and interrupted my post with a quick remark on the Swan Dolphin FAQ thread that I had an emergency. The Emergency Room was rigged in a temporary building and construction was everywhere with no place to park. Not even a handicapped space was available. I gave my keys to the Security Guard and thanked him before heading inside. (I was NOT going to drive to the parking garage and march over in the cold and dark by myself with this baby.)

The waiting area reminded me of Celebration Emergency Waiting room....deja vu! I checked in at the front desk and of course the receptionist had never heard of my dr and no one had called in for me! She told me to put a mask over DD2's face and go sit in the waiting room! I asked them exactly how they expected me to do that since the only way I could hold her was over my shoulder, with a diaper bag and cell phone in hand? I also said that I was content to wait in my car until something was available. I did not want to risk her catching something in the Emergency Waiting room. She refused to send someone outside to let me know when our name was called nor would she let me stand near the door! I retrieved my keys from the Security Guard and phoned my Dr as we were heading home... She convinced me to turn around and someone WOULD be waiting for us! This time I had to double park (but not in anyone's way) and ran in with her. There was a police officer waiting who escorted us back to the back! WOW! Two people immediately started checking her...BP this, pulse that, temp 104 deg F, blood ox sat was taken, another dose of medicine is given for the fever, then they were carrying her back to be admitted to a bed in the Emergency Room.

She spent a couple of hours in the Emergency Room being given breathing treatments and oxygen, and hooked up to an IV before being admitted to the Children's hospital where she spent the next 5 days. Unfortunately, she was discharged accidently based on a nurse's misinforming the dr. that she was eating and drinking normally, when she was not. Yesterday was the first day she drank anything from a bottle in almost a month. (We've been feeding her with a medicine dropper.)

Yesterday she smiled! And today took almost all of her liquids from a bottle!:sunny: It's a GOOD day!

So the Nurse misinformed the doctor? That's dumb. But I'm glad your DD2 is feeling better.

How did your daughter feel after her wisdom teeth came out? I was all right until I developed a dry socket. I hope that didn't happen to her. It felt horrible!

So your DD9 had a great time and is feeling great, right? Seems like she escaped the line of fire.

DD15 felt awful after the surgery. But could not stop laughing and crying afterward due to the anesthesia! She looked like a chipmunk! After about 24 hrs, she seemed to be better. Now I'm just trying to make sure she keeps her mouth clean and avoids that dry socket I've heard such bad news about!

DD9 of course, had a GREAT vacation! She was the one who got to head out with Dad every day and have a little one-on-one attention! Something every middle child craves! Even after we got home and DH got sick, DD9 was the ONLY one who did not! (Hmmm... suspcious! I hope she was not the carrier!) I'm glad she has immunity however.

DD2 was diagnosed with Influenza Type A, and when she was accidentally discharged from the hospital, her white blood count was about 1/2 of normal. We're keeping her home to minimize risk of infection.

Hi! I just read your trip report from Part 1 to the end. I just had to say that I really admire you! You are an amazing person to stay positive and find happiness in the midst of what other people might consider a nightmare of a vacation!

Your kids are really lucky to have such a great mom.

::yes::

Thanks for posting such a fun to read trip report. Despite all the aggravation you encountered you still seemed so upbeat. It must be the Starbucks cause I know it's not the teenager!;)

Good luck battling the germs :crazy2: this winter

Marlton Mom :jester:

Thank you both, w8ting4pooh and marlton mom! I appreciate your comments on my report! My DH was ready to go home the next day after the Emergency Room visit at Celebration hospital, but I convinced him that I could nurse them in the room as well as at home! So with a medicine dropper in one hand, coffee cup in the other and nebulizer hooked up and ready for action... we took on each day! And as the trip progressed, I could see from my pictures that we did succeed in having "Disney Moments"!

Thanks again, you're both sweet for posting!
