My DD9 and DD15 have always RAVED about the wonderful times they have enjoyed at the NEVERLAND club and they have only been a few times! Since DD9 is fast approaching the age when she will no longer be eligible to go, I secretly call and make a reservation for her to go TONIGHT! This is our last night at the POLY and tomorrow night we will be home. We get ready and I don't tell her anything until we approach the Neverland Club and go inside!
She is EXCITED! I had to call her back for a hug and a kiss as she was disappearing so fast through the Magic Window that is the kid's entrance into the Club! BYE, Mom! See YA! You won't come back TOO soon to get me, will you? GOOD! LOVE YA, MEAN IT! (She really did say this... and is a fan of Uncle Dave's phrase. Thanks, delswife! I get a chuckle everytime she says this!)
I sign all the appropriate forms. Tuck my beeper in a pocket and when they ask where I'm going... I reply... "I have NO idea!" This is the first opportunity I've had to go where I will and not have to worry that someone else might not like me stopping for 15 minutes just to LOOK at my surroundings! LOL! Woh! I am giddy with my newfound freedom! I stop by the pin trading cart and meet some very nice people who tell me about the great Pin Trader Scavenger Hunt! The CM hands me a form which has questions that must be answered and stamped at the appropriate locations! If you present the completed form at the Pin Traders at DTD you will receive a free pin! WOW! WHAT FUN! I THINK I KNOW WHAT I WILL BE DOING THIS EVENING!! I jump on the monorail with my newly stamped form and realize it is dinner time and I am hungry.. "Where should I go?" Suddenly SUSHI sounds fabulous... so only one place to go and that is the top of the Contemporary Resort's CALIFORNIA GRILL!
NO ONE is as good as YOSHI at the CG Sushi Bar! She and her son have a deluxe platter that is to die for!
I arrive at the reservation desk on the 15th floor and ask if there is room for 1 at the Sushi Bar? There is room for EXACTLY 1.. what luck! When I am seated directly in front of YOSHI my cup runneth over! AND she even remembered me from my trip back in November, when I sat in front of her son!
She fed me Sushi and even modified my plate since I am not overly fond of cuttlefish or octopus! WoH! And I even had a glass of a wonderful Cabernet Sauvignon.
Now as I head back to the monorail I stop to look at the pins (and get my form stamped!) and ask the CM's about the pin trading book which is supposed to be stationed at all of the resort's pin trading booths. They looked at me like they'd never heard of such a thing! I guess this was lucky in a way since neither one of the CM's had anything I wanted to trade for, I went into another of the CR shops and THERE IT WAS! The most beautiful pin I had yet to see! It was very large and had two pin backs to hold it in place and was a large lovely oval of Mickey and Minnie dressed in hula gear and "HAWAII" in nice large letters across the bottom. There were Red Hibiscus flowers all over it. Since we were staying at the Polynesian, it seemed like Karma! I traded for it in a heartbeat!
This night is turning out to be another Magical one!
I meet more fabulous CM's who allow me to ride in front on the monorail... it is only a short hop until I must change monorails for EPCOT, but still oh so fun! At the Epcot Monorail I ask to ride in front and am more than agreeable to wait for the next monorail as a family is already waiting to ride. When it's my turn, another family standing in line for the first car tries to jump into the front but are asked to please get out since the front is already reserved! I think a lot of people don't realize how rude they are being when they don't ask. The CM's must see a lot of this and POLITENESS is so VERY important! It shows respect...
At Epcot I am very excited! The tree here is GORGEOUS!
The music is so uplifting and how about that wonderful light arch you must pass through to get to the World Showcase? SPECTACULAR! I had just missed Illuminations and People were streaming out of the park like Lemmings! Luckily I was able to get in one of the out gates.. the security guard waved me through since the park was closing! I just wanted to come take some photographs, get my form stamped, and see the sights. What do you think? Pretty awesome, huh?
I walk all the way out the International Gateway as I need a stamp from the General Store on the Boardwalk. I am in luck and spy a boat which drops me off right in front of the store! I quickly answer the question, receive my stamp and then have to walk back since I missed the boat! I did not want to risk not having a ride back to the POLY! I easily walk through the back gateway unchallenged and am delighted that the park has thinned out and I get that "I have the park to myself" feeling! I take my time and stop for a few more photos.
I ride the monorail back to the TTC and once again am in the front. (Keep in mind this is a fluke, designed to counteract all previous bad luck during our vacation! This NEVER happens!) It is at this point that I realized I had set down my form with all the stamps on it when I was taking a few last photos of the tree! OH, POOH! All that work... I hope someone found it the next day and was able to claim that free pin! I sure had fun collecting the stamps! So I don't feel bad at all... it gave me something to do!
DD9 has had a marveous time and even though it is around Midnight she didn't look thrilled to see me as she was having so much fun with her new friends!
I let her know tomorrow is our last day and we will be doing the one thing she has begged for since she heard we were going to Disney World after Christmas. This will be her special day!
