Parks Game! Part 9! Keep Playing! Because If You Don't...You'll Be Sorry!

Melissa....uh, no Contemporary is not the closest resort to MGM Studios! In fact, I think it might be the farthest one....I guess Fort Wilderness would win that one! :p

And you like seasons? Come on over to St. Louis. High 90's in the summer and lots of snow and cold in the winter. And then there's those 20 glorious days in October we call Autumn! :p

Granny - Actually we all grew up in St. Peters, MO. Just a little west of STL. We moved to Raleigh, NC in 84.

As for the resort Q: I'm going to guess Boardwalk Villas?

Popping out of lurker mode to take a swat at that softball. My guess is the Swan or the Dolphin. If those are wrong, I second Boardwalk Villas.

Todd....you are correct, the Boardwalk Villas are the closest to the MGM entrance. I had to say "entrance" or else the Swan would have been the answer, I think. A "real close to MGM" AAQ card to you, Todd.

And Sandy, glad to bring you out of your lurker mode. That's why I threw a softball out there, since James' question is a toughie.

Todd...I know St. Peter's well. You wouldn't recognize it now...it's really grown!

Thanks Granny.

I'm going to cash in that AAQ....

At MGM, on the backlot tour, there is a Gulfstream G-1 airplane. It used to be the corporate plane for Disney until they retired it a few years ago.

Tell me how they got it to the park and eventually to its current resting place.

Todd.... I'll guess they flew it in and taxied it to its current resting place. :teeth:

:wave2: Hi Sandy! You need to come around more often ;)

MBabe - You are partly correct. They did fly it in. But where to?There is no airport on WDW property.

Maybe they brought it in by barge like how they got the Concorde to the Intrepid today ;)

MB - actually, I've been around, but not enough to get the answers before someone beat me to it.

Well... jump in anyway... I miss you ;)

Todd... Yes there is an airstrip on WDW property.... but I digress.... Did they air lift it with a helicopter to bring it in... since I would guess over the road transport would take up too much space or they would need to remove the wings

Serious guessing going on here ;)

:p

Todd...I'll guess that they flew it in and blocked off World Drive to land it and taxi it over to MGM??

Wonder how they got it through the turnstiles? :p

I'll say they chopped off the wings of the plane and had a bunch of CMs pull it by rope to MGM. ;) The wings were carried over by tram, of course. :p

Actually, I agree w/ MBabe about the airstrip on WDW property. If memory serves correctly, it's on the right as you drive to the toll plaza to MK (or just beyond it). It's hidden by the trees, so us regular folk can't see it.

Jay...nice to see you, and just in time to wish you a Happy Thanksgiving!

Okay, now I'm guessing that they used an army transport helicopter to fly it in and set it down in MGM. After all, they do give a great discount to the armed services at Shades of Green resort, so maybe they called in a chip? :p

Edit note: I see that basically this answer is the same as the one MBabe gave, so I'll second her.......until I can think of some other answer!

Hi Granny! :wave2: Have a great Thanksgiving too!! Hey... want some turkey? ;) We may have a bit left over and I'll be more than happy to share. :p

Hmmmm.... I would have seconded MBabe and Granny, but that's too easy..... Besides, the image of CMs hauling the plane by rope ("heave.... ho.... heave.... ho....") is just funny!! ;) :p

Note to self.... since it's officially Thanksgiving, be sure to start watching "A Christmas Story" on a daily basis... :p

Todd....... Oh...oh...oh.... I know......

Where exactly at WDW can you find a sign that says "Proprietor: R. Ongala" and what is the name on the sign?

Kilamanjaro Safari?

I seem to remember seeing something similar in Africa at AK.

While I'm thinking of Kilamanjaro Safari, time to cash in an AAQ:

Where are Kilamanjaro Safaris' "offices" located? (Hint: Africa, AK or WDW do not count!!)

Sorry for the delay, but I wanted to post the picture I have of the sign in question, but I'm not sure how to! I understand you have to host the picture on a site, and post the link to that site, but I don't have a way of hosting the picture? Any help would be appreciated!
As to the answer, Granny had the right park and marty3d was the closest, so they deserve the AAQs. I believe the sign is in the Harambe section of Animal Kingdom and the name on the sign has to do with what the 'shop' appears' to sell, and that's native musical instruments.
Okay, thanks to MickeyBabe I'm going to try to post that picture of the sign. Here it goes!
