Parking question

The newest info on member website indicates yes. However, there have been some reports of charges not happening.

Parking

Valet service and standard overnight self-parking are available to Resort Guests.
Valet Parking
Valet parking is $33 per night, available at the porte cochere. Note: Any Guest with a valid disability parking permit can enjoy complimentary valet parking while staying at this Disney Vacation Club Resort.
Self-Parking
Members will not be charged for standard overnight self-parking when staying at a DVC Deluxe Villa, regardless of whether they use vacation points or another form of payment. Members also will not be charged to park when using vacation points to stay at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel.
Disney Vacation Club Members who wish to shop, dine or enjoy activities for the day at a Disney Resort hotel are not subject to the overnight self-parking fee. Charges for valet parking will still apply.
For rental Guests, a parking fee of $24 per night will be applied to the Guest folio each night of the stay.
But does rental guests mean a person staying on a cash reservation or does it mean a person renting points?

If you book a DVC property through Disney, you are a Disney hotel guest and you pay deluxe parking fees. Parking at theme parks is included.

If you book your stay through a DVC owner, it is like you are a DVC owner and you get to park for free at the resort.

Renting points really just means you are a guest of a DVC owner, and guests of owners park for free.

The same goes if exchange a timeshare property into DVC. The timeshare side gets free parking. Only booking through Disney do you pay.

Disney never sees the cash on a points rental reservation. It's the owner that gets the cash. Like Upatnoon mentioned, the renter is essentially a "guest" of the owner, so "free" parking is included (it's really not free as it's paid for by dues from what I understand).

But is odd that it is included in the DVC information about the resort on the member website if it is only applying to cash guests who reserve through Disney.

Why would an owner need to know this? I did read a report last year that a renter on points was charged the fee...

Do members on cash reservations pay for parking? If so, then it would serve as a reminder. If not, then I am not sure.

According to the language posted above it appears we do not pay for DVC villas on points or cash.

So, it does appear they intend to charge renters but how it plays out in all cases is the big unknown.

Even if Disney wants to charge DVC renters, how would it be implemented? Are they going to require flashing a membership card for the charges to be removed? What if the reservation is for family members or close friends of the owner, especially if the owner can't be present for whatever reason?

There is no charge maybe if the members name is on the reservation?

Like I said, I don’t know exactly how it works as all my recent trips have included me but the language is fairly new...maybe 6 to 8 months...so it could be one of those things that a renter might see and without a DVC card, will have to pay.

It says only that members get free parking...not members and their guests...so who knows for sure.

When Disney started the parking fees, there was a lot of concern about this, but as far as I have seen, guests on DVC side aren't being charged. Many people staying at DVC properties are guests of owners there would be many howls of protest if this policy started.

Could someone have been charged for parking? I say it is possible thanks to the various issues I have seen with Disney IT and how they handle issues with DVC vs. hotel reservations. It could be the DVC owner ran out of points and booked their guest into a DVC resort with cash so it appeared as a hotel reservation.

Could Disney figure out a way to charge DVC owner guests for parking in the future? I wouldn't rule anything out, but for now, I say there are no charges.

Who knows exactly other than the Lagrange has been changed so if I had renters or guests going, I’d give them a heads up it is possible they could ncur the charge.

Does anyone know how many cars are allowed to park for free per room reservation?
I’m going with my parents I booked our room with points (1room). We’re driving separate cars. I’m the DVC member. We didn’t know if they would be charged.

They will be fine.

You can have two cars for those staying in a DVC room. and no charge for parking, subject, of course to being able to find a parking space, e.g., the SSR treehouses have space only for one car, a second has to park away in one of the parking lots.

As to charging for parking, current rule is that those staying in a DVC room on points, regardless of whether they are the member or a renter from a member, do not pay any parking fees. You should note that rule is not just some "gift" that Disney gave to DVC Members. The parking lots at the DVC Resorts are common elements of the resort, for which maintenance and repair is covered by dues. Under Florida condominium law, Disney cannot legally charge members or their guests (including renters from members) for the use of any common elements unless the POS Documents issued at time of sale expressly reserved the right to charge for such use, which none of the POS documents do. I know the modern DVC would just love to charge extra (and large) fees for parking, pool use, use of tennis courts, use of community halls, playground use, the front desk, the hallways etc., but it cannot legally do so. If Disney could charge for use of the common elements, it likely would not be long before your extra fees exceeded your annual dues.
