We are going to spend a day at HB and was wondering if anyone knew of any free parking that is close to the beach.

Good question - I was wondering the same sort of thing. We're going there next Sunday. I'd read on www.surfcityusa.com there is $15 parking near the beach .....

The only free parking would be near the houses. You could walk the couple of blocks to the beach. Beware though of the time limit and street sweeper signs.

Our favorite place to park is right in the lot at Duke's. It costs us under $10 for all day, you pay hourly, and it's as close as you can get. I have friends who valet at Duke's and just go to the beach but I haven't done that. Duke's is right at the HB pier.

Most of the lots on the beach (Huntington City Beach) are $15 per day, but there's metered parking on PCH (Pacific Coast Highway). New meters were installed within the last year that allow payment by credit card. I believe the cost is $1.50 per hour. These spots fill up on the weekend, but are easier to come by earlier in the day and on weekdays. I would assume that parking is more plentiful the further you are from the pier. We always go to lifeguard station #9 so we don't have too much trouble getting a spot. Hope this helps.

So you just put in how many hours you want and pay with CC? We will only be there probably like 5 hours so this would be the cheaper option.

You can park along Beach Blvd for free. If you're lucky you'll get a spot just across the street, not along PCH but along Beach...lemme just make a map lol.

OKAY!! So red lines are parking areas that are free along the street

When we were there last month, we used a parking lot with meters right at the pier area. It was $1.50 an hour but had a 4 hr limit. or I could have paid $15 for the day. so if you want to do 5 or more hours but not whole day I think (not 100% though) you would have to go to the meter and repay when the 4 hour mark arrived.
Also, near the pier, (not on it) to the left of it, on the beach/bike path area there, there was a place to eat (fast food) that also had beach chair rentals for $5 day which was nice for us as we didn;t have chairs...

I'm down that way often but not to park. I'm usually on my bike. Parking on Beach Blvd is free but it is something the locals know about and that does start to fill up pretty quick. The US Open of Surfing wrapped up this week so the crowds should start to go back to summer normal, which still means the lots closest to the pier will fill up first. There are actually two "Huntington Beach" locations. One is the city beach and the other is the state beach.

Here is a link that gives you a reasonable idea of the locations and parking prices.

Within the area of Huntington Beach (the city), you can find parking information here on this PDF.

Notice that it is not real straightforward. It depends on which lots you choose as to what the metered maximum is.

State Beach parking is basically the $15.

Yep, open ended today :) Awesomeness as it always is!! Especially with a win by Kelly Slater <3 <3 So yeah lol beach should be a little less crowded
