Parking for Guests at the Value Resorts? Can they ride the shuttle with us?

Hi all,

Starting to plan our next trip, and trying to decide whether to stay on or off property.

I loved staying at the ASM last time (2005), and it looks like the family suites are now closer to the bus. Yay! We had two adjoining rooms last time (which I'm sure they called a family suite........ but it did not have the bar area I'm seeing in more current photos) but it was in the farthest building from the bus stop.

Anyway, if we stay ON property we will have a set of grandparents meeting us at the park (they will be staying with friends at their home). Will they be able to come to the ASM and park (using my parking space, because we probably won't have a car) and then ride the bus to the parks with us?

Or do you have to show your room key to ride the shuttle busses? I cannot recall.

Thanks.

Yes, they can use your parking pass and they will not have to show ids'. All guests who have tickets can use all of the mass transportation.

You are good to go!

Yay!

OK so they will need a ticket to the park to ride the bus..... I will have multi-day parkhoppers, but they will probably just come for one day. Can we buy their tickets at the hotel front desk? (I don't want to invest in the tickets before a day or two in advance in case they decide not to come).

Thanks!

They do not check for tickets when you board the shuttle..... No worries...

Yes, you can buy their tickets at the hotel concierge desk. That will save a little time when you get to the park gates. You don't have to show anything to board the bus. Others are just explaining who "officially" qualifies for Disney transportation, and that includes all transportation - bus, boat and monorail. There's no assigned parking spaces at All Stars. There will be plenty of places for your grandparents to park. Perhaps parking close to the main lobby, where the park buses depart, would be a good choice. You could meet their car at the lobby and park it for them.

Thanks so much for all the replies.

I love love LOVE the planning. But not as much as actually being there. :)

You can buy them at guest relations at any park or at your resort.

I am going to be flamed here, but they are not allowed to park at a resort and then ride the buses to the parks, It's looked at as avoiding paying the parking fee!

Will they catch them and tow............not at all likely...but its cheating the system.

You all can take their car and drive to the parks and use your resorts cards and not pay for parking.

AKK

So... either way they aren't paying the fee, and the car is being parked, but with OP's method, the car is not taking up a prime at-park parking space. Moreover, OP has no other car there, this is the only car space OP is planning to take up. I can't recall if they asked for license numbers, and we aren't allowed to discuss ways to cheat Disney here, and I would never want to do that, but honestly, if it were me, I think I would consider the grandparents' car to be my car, and use that license number on my check-in if they do that there (sorry, can't remember that detail.)

I guess I should add that I'm not speaking from a lot of experience here, so OP might be better off with someone else's advice, it just seems like grandparents' car being at the resort as the only car for this family would make sense? Or what would happen if grandparents were up front when entering the resort and said they were coming to visit the rest of the family, then they all go to the parks together? Has anyone actually done this? What did the parking people say?

We're talking All Star Resort here, not Poly or CR.

OP -- when you check-in, tell them you have a car. Get a parking pass. Put parking pass on grandparents' car dashboard. Now you're covered.

Yes, this is what I meant. One car. Family car. It just happens to arrive with other people in it. If I had my own car taking up my parking space at the resort, I would not be asking this question.

Definitely not asking how to "cheat," just asking what can be done legitimately.

I'll call the resort directly if I end up doing this and make sure it's ok. I was concerned more about the use of the free shuttle than the use of the parking space. I would get it if a non-resident of the resort could not use the shuttle from the resort to the parks. Will ask the parks directly.

All guests of the wdw resort are allowed to use disney transportation. You do not need a ticket and you will not be asked for one. People go all the time to dtd, over to resorts for meals, and back to dtd without getting park tickets. They are still guests at wdw. The buses leave every 20 minutes or so. If there's a line/others son't get on, another bus will be along soon. Get a parking pass, put it in the grandparents car, and don't worry about it.

If you call the resorts/parks, you will get a call centre. The CMs at the centre often give out incorrect info. You are better of asking us disney nuts here. At least here if you are given wrong advice, a dozen others will correct it.

Very clear. Thank you.

But they are guests of someone staying at the resort.

Disney knows with the amount of people taking ME, not everyone has a car. Many of us do not even use the parking passes, so it is not unusual for someone to ask for an extra parking pass for a day or so.

They are in no way cheating the system.
