Parking b4 check-in at WDW hotel...charge?

We will be arriving early morning and my kids will want to visit a park first thing (I know, I know....crazy!! but we will be within an hour and half of the park)....I know that parking is free for WDW resort guests; however, we won't be checking in until after we visit the park for a few hours....is it possible to just show them my reservation paper to let them know I am a resort guest, or do I need to have been checked in already? I'm trying to avoid heading to the hotel before going to the park that morning..we'd like to be at park opening!

You would be best off going to the hotel and checking in and then hitting the park.
The plusses to this are that you will get your parking pass so you do not have to worry if you can get in to a parking lot.

If your room is ready then you will have someplace to go after the parks.
If your room is not ready then the hotel can store your luggage for you so it does not sit in the hot sun all day.

I would think they would let you .. but I don't know for sure.. I would check in first too!

If you check in first, you can park your car and take the bus over to the theme park. You'll have your Key to the World so you can charge your meals to it and go shopping using your card. And if your room still isn't ready when you get back to the hotel, go for a swim.

Thanks for all the replies! I will probably be pulling in just at park opening and want to be at rope drop....don't want to have to get up an hour earlier to check in first, just want to be at the park first thing, I'm crazy enough for doing the park as soon as we pull in...so want that extra hour's sleep!!
