Parking at WDW when staying at DVD resort

Me:
- last Disney trip was 15 years ago.
- Retired.
- May fly in and use DME, or get a car rental. Or drive from Texas.
- Plan to stay in a DVC resort with rented points first. Looking at SSR, Copper Creek and Polynesian resale listing everyday but no hurry.
- Thinking about getting an AP (I know we can't get AP right now).

Questions:

- Let say if I'm staying at Polynesia (or maybe other resorts). On the arrival day, do I have to pay a toll at Magic Kingdom Toll booth? Or can I show them my resort reservation and go through?
- At the Polynesia, do they give me a placard during my stay?
- At the Animal Kingdom, is the parking fee waived for AP holders?
- If I leave the park and return the same day, do I have to pay for parking again?
- My car has an EZ pass, which does not work on FL Turnpike yet, can I pay cash at the entrance or exit of the Turnpike?

I welcome any advice.

Thanks,

-

You can do online check-in before you arrive. Theme park parking is free starting the day of your check-in, but since you don't have a Magic Band, I don't know how that will work in your case.

No more placards. If you buy a Magic Band, that will link to your account and open the parking gate. If you don't, I think you will get a plastic card that will do the same thing.

No parking charge for resort guests. For everyone else, they just have to show the parking receipt when re-entering.

Maybe or maybe not. Florida Turnpike is gradually implementing cash-free tolling in the Orlando area. I noticed yesterday that the I-4/Turnpike interchange is now cash-free. If you are driving your own car, cameras will read your license plate and you will get a bill in the mail with a small service charge. If you are renting a car, it will be billed through the rental company's agent, and could be rather expensive depending on which company you're renting from.

You didn't say when you're traveling. There was a report last July that the FTE had said E-ZPass interoperabilty would be in place by the end of the year (aka tomorrow.) I think we would have heard something by now if that was happening, but it's still possible they could get it working before your visit.

There are no placards and if you're staying on DVC, there's also no charge for parking at resort. I'd make sure to have the My Disney Experience (MDE) APP on phone. Just link the reservation to MDE.

I have the MDE APP on my iPhone. Right now I use it to check the attraction wait times.
I will get a Magic Band before I go.
I did not know about no parking charge at the parks for resort guest.

Thanks!

The road configuration to access the MK and the MK resorts has changed over the past year. In order to get to any MK resort you stay to the left on a road that bypasses the toll booth. Only guests heading the the main parking lot go through the toll booth.
