Our trip in October is the first time we will have a car. As I understand it DVC members park for free at the theme parks. What is required for this? Membership card? Parking permit from resort?
In the past, we always parked free at the parks by showing our DVC membership card (even if we had not yet checked in at a resort - or even if we were only in town for the day). Last month we parked the first day by just showing our DVC card (we were not staying at DVC that night) but the next day they asked for our resort parking pass. We explained that we were staying at OKW but had not checked in yet, and they let us park anyway. It will be a hassle if they require you to check in at the resort to park free because we usually go straight to the parks before checking in at the resort.
Our Dvc cards were once upon a time all that you needed to get you in for free parking as a DVC member to the theme parks but not anymore.
Also, I didn't read some of our checkin papers until the last day (how's that for dropping your bags in your room and running full speed ahead to go play in the parks?) but it stated that all you had to do was show your keycard. In fact although we rented a car, we never got a resort pass for the car; just had to show our keycard to the security person.
