Does anyone know how much parking is at the GC? Is valet different from self-parking? How far away is the self park lot? Thanks!!

Valet is most certainly different although I do not have a price to offer you. The self parking is in the lot across the street and is free for as long as you are a registered guest. Hopefully someone can give you the valet price :)

I've read somewhere that it's $17/day.

I'm sure that is what it was when we were there in the summer. However we choose to self park which was included in the resort fee. The self parking lot was just opposite the hotel on the other side of the road. It was very easy to use.

Just curious. Is the GCH self park lot the parking building behind the Paradise Pier (that us lowly Paradise Pier guests use ;))? Or a different lot / building?

If I recall correctly, it is.

Valet parking was $17 a day last summer. We did use the services, but wish we had not simply because we hardly left the parks! When we fly down in December we'll use the lot for our rental car. We just don't leave enough to justify the extra $17 a day (plus a tip!)

Self parking is across the street from the GCH, it's included in your resort fee so no extra charge. Valet parking was $13 a day when we were there last but that was a year ago and prices have gone up. GCH self parking is next to the PP yes.

The self parking for GC is to the right of PP if you are looking from the GC. It is not in a building or parking structure. It is a paved parking lot pretty much directly accross from the GC entrance.

Thanks everyone! Sounds like self-parking is pretty close...and as was mentioned, we may not even use the car once we arrive!

Thanks. :thumbsup2

Was curious about that.

It irks me because both times I have stayed at GCH in the past, the people who drove ended up using valet parking when self-parking was already included in the dreaded 'Resort Fee.' Now, that was fine and dandy as long as the people I rode with wanted to pay for valet themselves (which is what happened in 2001), but last year my friend wanted me to chip in for the valet cost with her (after I had already plunked down a pretty penny on the hotel)! See, if we had been more familiar with the layout of the GCH and where exactly the self-parking was, we would have been better prepared for how to handle the situation. I think, at the time, the parking seemed farther away than it actually was! In hindsight, I see that my friend could have easily just dropped me off in front of the GCH doors, with all the bulky bags in tow, then she could have driven over to the self-parking lot, found a spot, and then walked back to meet me at GCH where we could deposit our bags at the Bell Services Desk. Then, when we left the hotel, same thing. She could go get the car while I waited with the bags outside the GCH lobby, then come back to get me. I think my friend didn't realize that she could actually drive back up to the front of the GCH to pick me up. She thought that area was just reserved for the valet parking guys, and not pick-ups and drop offs. So we ended up paying something crazy like $34 or $36 for valet parking that was not necessary - IF we had realized how close the self-parking lot was and how to manage the whole situation!

Anyway, I am supposed to be back at the GCH next month (I am still not 100% sure the trip is happening yet, but we will see). I definitely know what to do next time!!!

This is exactly right. If you are self-parking you can drive up to the front door, unload your luggage, leave the keys in the car and go check in or store your luggage. Once you are done checking in, you go back to your car, give the guy that has held the car for you a couple bucks, go park the car across the street and walk back to the hotel (3 minute walk if you have to wait for the light). Do the opposite when you check out. Valet is $17/per day and go until midnight after you check out. Self-parking is included in the resort fee and also goes until midnight of the day you check out.
