Parking at other resorts

If you have a parking pass for the resort you are staying in, can you drive to any of the other resorts and park there, too? What about the parks?

If you have a parking pass for a WDW resort you can visit other resorts (like to shop or eat) but not simply to park (like to take the monorail). Your resort pass does get you free entry into the theme parks parking areas, you will not have to pay! Enjoy! :goodvibes

you don't even have to stay at WDW resorts - to visit the other resorts - always look in the gift shops and ask about sales.

disney doesn't have sales all the time - but when they do - it can be 70% off.

the MK resorts will give you a 3 hours pass - most of the time - sometimes 2 hours - other times more.

I think the Epcot resorts will do the same.

A resort parking pass shows that you are a resort guest, with a car. You get free park parking. But, you are not allowed to park at other resorts in order to get to a park more easily.
If you are headed to another resort to shop or eat, then you can do that. But, if you plan on heading to a park after that, then plan on moving your car. There is signage at most resorts stating that they do not provide parking for park access.

If you valet park in one hotel, you get to valet park at all of them. It comes in very handy if you happen to be staying at the Beach Club and want to go to Boma or Chef Mickey's and it is raining. :thumbsup2

But like others said, you aren't allowed to park at the Contemporary and walk over to the Magic Kingdom or park at the Beach Club and walk over to Epcot.

You do get free parking at the parks if staying in a WDW hotel or have an AP.

This thread brought back memories of a thread that was started a few months back..it turned into a heated debate and it turned really nasty! It was locked by the safetymom because of the content. Basically, you can park at any resort to eat, shop or check it out BUT not to park for the day and use the monorail or bus service from a resort you are not staying at....some people feel the need to do this and state it is alright but it's not. Disney's policy is sometimes not enforced and it should be...the people that are paying for deluxe properties on the monorail should be entitled to the ammenties the resort offers without huge lines and crowds by the pools. ;)

Thanks for the info! We just wanted to check out some of the other resorts for our next trip, and we have some ADR's. DH is not crazy about public transportaion ( especially a bus), and since we are staying at WL, we thought it might be easier to just drive our car. :goodvibes

get him to try - he might be surprised!

but WL is so lovely I really doubt that you will want to leave it.

Wow - How nice of you to share your opinion with us. Mine varies a little. I've valet parked at most of the deluxe hotels and gone to a park after or before an ADR at that hotel. I've ALWAYS asked the valet and/or the security guard and have never been told that it isn't okay. Sometimes Disney has different ideas about what "should be" enforced and when. Disney wants to make its customers happy and if their valet lot is sitting half full anyway, sometimes they would rather let a guest pay to use the service instead of turning them away.

I understand what you are saying but Disney policy is you can NOT park at a monorail resort all day to utilize the parks. If a CM says you can they are not following policy. I stayed at The Poly and I did not find it to be a problem with crowd levels at the monorail entrance..BUT that is not the point. The questions that was asked was "if" they could park at a monorail/ferry property and go to the parks..the answer would be no...that's what the TTC is for.

The policy belongs to Disney and if they choose to allow their employees the latitude to enforce or not enforce it that is their prerogative. My point is that DIS members, no matter how helpful they are trying to be, aren't Disney and can't know exactly what Disney (or its employees) will do in any given situation. In this particular situation I've expirienced Disney doing something different than the quoted policy many times. Disney and DIS members have different wants - DIS members want uncrowded parking lots/uncrowded monorails and Disney wants happy guests. Sometimes those things can co-exist (like when the valet lot is half empty and the valet is allowed to except non-guests) and sometimes they can't. It's up to Disney to control the situation, not the guests.

PS - The original question was about parking in general away from one's own resort; not about parking at the monorail resorts

The difference here is 'regular' parking vs 'valet' parking. I have been told by many CM's that valet parking is fine if you want to pay them and then head to a park. Valet parking does not impede any resort guests from getting a parking spot. And that is the issue here...resort guests not being able to find decent parking because the spots are taken by those headed to a park....ie, CR going to MK or Polynesian going to MK. Or YC/BC/BW going to Epcot.

Since you're staying at the WL, it wouldn't help you anyway. But the problem most people here are referring to is driving to the CR and just taking the monorail from the CR to the MK (or just walking to the MK).

Another thing would be driving to the Boardwalk, and walking thru the international gateway entrance to epcot to watch Wishes so that you don't have to wait in line for the monrail to get out.

As far as valet, that's completely different since you are paying.

Every time this topic comes up it turns into an argument about whether doing this is right or wrong. It's pretty clear there's a policy in place, but it's also clear that there is no enforcement of that policy.
