Parking at Desert Inn on check-out day

We're staying at the Desert Inn & Suites early April. On our check-out day, we plan to be at the gates before opening, and stay until 6 pm or so, and then drive to San Diego. I want to avoid the parking hassle in the morning. Does anybody know if we can leave our car at the hotel on our check-out day and until what time? Do you check-out early that day or the night before? If we can stay a little more, I was thinking maybe DH could go move the car to Downtown Disney. I know they have 3 free hours of parking, but how about the additional time? How much do they charge? I don't want to end up paying more than the $14 they charge for parking at the parking structure all day.

We have left the car in their parking lot after we checked out but not that long. I would call and ask. They are usually very accomodating.

They told us it depends on the day. We would have to call down in the morning. We just decided to go with our backup which was to move the car to the GCH where my parents were staying just so we would not have to worry about it. So I think DTD sounds like a good back up.
