Parking at Contemporary

I agree with Deb & Bill.
If you are staying at one of the WDW resorts, the bus is the easiest way to get to MK. The bus takes you directly to an area close to the park turnstiles. From there, you can either go into the park or take the resort monorail to Chef Mickeys.

ITA!

We always rent a car since DH cannot stand the bus. He has finally surrendered to the fact that the bus is the simplest route to MK. While we still drive to every other park, we will only bus to MK.

Ok, I just made a phone call to the Contemporary and was told that will be alright to valet park and go to Magic Kingdom. It's a relief, cause I got an ADR to 7 AM, and didn't want to move the car from the parking lot at the resort.

Truth be told, I suspect that in general, the members of this board are more concerned about who's parking at CR than WDW staff is. I'm sure parking is tight there, especially with construction, but if it was half as big of a deal as this board makes it out to be (sometimes), they could easily implement a procedure requiring everyone BUT resort guest to park at TTC and take the monorail over. :)

Self park is definitely tight there right now. When we were there the latter part of May it appeared to me (DH was the driver) that the whole self park lot for the north wing was out of commission now. There is a smallish lot in front of the north side of the resort along the roadway (if that makes sense). We also saw the lot outside of the south wing but for the life of us could not locate an entrance for it, due in part to all the extra buses coming in. It was the weekend that they were votoing on their union contract and the convention center was a voting site, so there were tons of extra CMs milling about.

...Also including the tip it will cost you more to valet park then it would pay the $10.00 flat fee to park at the TTC and to take the Resort Monorail over to the Contemporary.

The OP doesn't care how much it costs, she's concerned about her elderly relative. There is no rule regarding valet and she has every right to use it. Though I agree with the other posters who suggested a resort bus to MK and then the monorail as more convenient.

I can assure you that WDW does a very good job of analyzing and taking advantage of every potential revenue stream.
This exact topic is a perfect example of that. Valet parking used to be free, but naturally a tip was expected. Disney started charging for Valet Service (and has raised the price to the same level as park-parking), and all that money goes to Disney, not the Valets.

Who, us? Nah, you must be thinking of some other group of Disney fanatics... :teeth:

regardless of your belief, unless WDW disallows it, there is no restriction currently in place in regards to valet parking and leaving the resort.

I can assure you that WDW does a very good job of analyzing and taking advantage of every potential revenue stream. If they believe that there is an opportunity to implement a charge or change a policy without negatively impacting guest satisfaction, they will do so.

Until WDW changes their policy, there is nothing to prevent a guest from valet parking and going to another location.

If I choose to valet at VWL, for instance, there is nothing restricting me from walking to Fort Wilderness, or taking the boat to Contemporary, or even taking a bus to Epcot.
I e-mailed WDW a few days ago and asked them about the valet parking at the Resorts for a meal and then going off to the parks, so here is what they told me.

Dear Jason,

Thank you for contacting the Walt Disney World Resort.

While we appreciate your interest, We Are Unable to Provide Parking for
Park Access in regular or Valet parking. If you are dining you will be
issued a temporary parking pass.

If you have questions or need further assistance, feel free to contact
us.

Please include your full name, E-Mail address, and reservation number if
applicable on all correspondence.

Thank you!
Sincerely,

Melissa Acevedo

While I am sure most of you will not believe me there is the answer right from WDW.

Thread of old, rise from thy grave!!!!

We aren't the parking police.

Ask the valet how long you can stay. Odds are, they will say "as long as you want"...

I am just posting what WDW told me in their e-mail reply, so don't shoot the messenger.
