Hi Gang--ok--we'll be at Epcot on Weds. and I want to enter via the International Gateway, but we are staying at AKV. We will have a car.

I know that we are not supposed to part at BWV/BCV for access to a park...but where am I allowed to park for access to the International Gateway entrance to Epcot?

Thanks!

Im pretty sure you are supposed to park in the regular Epcot parking to enter Epcot. If there is some reason you need to get to the International Gateway, I guess you would walk through the park. You can also use Disney transportation and not need to park the car.

Park at your resort. To access the International Gateway, you can either take a bus to MGM and then walk or ride the boat from there to the gateway. Alternatively, take a bus to DD and then a bus to Beach Club. If you wish to park you can park at MGM and access the Gateway, or you can park at the front entrance to Epcot (forgoing the International Gateway entrance in this case).

Or you could park at Disney Studios and take the boat or walk over to the International Gateway. You are not supposed to park at a resort that is not the one you are staying at for theme park parking. Park at the other resort only if you are actually using the services of the resort, such as, dining, entertainment, boating, etc.

Technically - you're not. International Gateway is the entrance for the people staying at BW, YC/BC, Swan & Dolphin, and guests riding the boat over from MGM. There isn't a parking area for International Gateway.

That is what I was afraid of. I may have to get creative then...lol. I need to have my car as this is a working vacation for me (but we are taking the kids). We are going to spend the first half of the day at Epcot...then DH will take the kiddos back to AKV for an afternoon by the pool while I head first to a meeting at Swan/Dolphin, and then from there to a meeting offiste (thus the need to have my car close by). There is no way I can rely on Disney transportation to get me where I need to be given that I will have killer time constraints, etc. (and have to get off property for the second meeting).

Since you are attending the meeting at the Swan/Dolphin, couldn't you park your car there? It seems like that might be most convenient for making it to your second meeting also.

That was my first choice, but I have been told (still need to check it out for myself) that (1) you have to pay for parking; and (2) you actually have to be staying at the resort to part here. Anyone know?

I think I'd park at the Studios and take the boat (or walk) to Epcot, then you can walk from the Swan/Dolphin back to your car (probably quicker than the boat).

If you have to pay, I'd assume either your company would pay/comp the parking or at very least it is deductible as a business expense. If you had a business meeting in a city I would think $8-10 for a parking garage would just be cost of doing business.

I would also double check with the business center over at Swan/Dolphin or whoever is putting on the meeting. Find out what arrangements are made for parking. Surely they have other people coming in who will have cars?

you can park near BW.

there is a public parking lot down from the gas station - directly across from BW. It has fences - but don't worry about them.

instead of turning left into BW - just kept going - at the traffic light -turn right.

it is just fine for you (or anyone) to park here. It is where the people not staying at BWV or BWI are supose to be parking - they are not!!! they are still parking in the guest area for those resorts parking lot.

Someone needs to start complaining again - and this time - make them start to move the cars - if they can at the MK resorts - they definitely need to here.

this lot can be next to empty about half hour after illiuinations - so Disney or DVC needs to really stop this parking. the security guard is surpose to kept them out -and direct them to this other parking. but instead of making them turn around there - he lets them enter - well they just park at the nearest parking lot instead of going to the outside lot.

anyway as you can tell this has made me rather mad!:rotfl:

I would think that if you are attending a function, aka meeting, at the S/D, you would be able to park there. Yes, there is a fee to park, even if you are staying at those resorts. I would just put the car there, then you will have access to it when you need it.

That is for the public visiting the Boardwalk, NOT for access to Epcot.

I park in this lot all the time. Good for access to the EPCOT/MGM area.

EDIT - meaning the area between EPCOT and MGM.

there is no sign that says that.

besides too many CM with Epcot uniforms on - also park here.

now there is a sign on the BW parking that says only for guests staying at the BW - but this is ignored!!!!!!

We can make a list of all the things you aren't supposed to do that there isn't a sign for. That parking lot is an overflow lot for Boardwalk as I understand it. It certainly is NOT a public lot for going to the theme parks, though it may be a lot that CM's can use at less busy times certainly.

sorry not concerned.

there are not enough people who even know about this parking lot.

my problem is the BW parking itself and the non-BW guests could ignore the signs and park here anyway.

this is a BIG problem. For anyone who stayed at BWV or BWI and self parked can definitely verify.

My advice to the OP, park at Epcot since you'll be in Future World in the morning and then drive to S/D or park at the S/D and boat or walk to the International Gateway. It is a hike from IG to Future World. The lot across from the BW is for people who are using BW facilities not theme park guests.

I agree, as a BWV owner, there has been many times we have come home in the evening and either struggle to find a spot, only to find a hand full of cars in the morning. Rarely will security enforce BWI/BWV guest only. It is frustrating and yes, we also complain about the parking problem. We stay at BWV several times a year.

For the OP, since your meeting is at S/D that is where you should be parking. Most companies reimburse you for parking. I know the USG does. You can always drop them off at BW and pick them up later.
