My friend stayed there last week (we stayed at Desert Inn because it was about $300 cheaper) and she said there wasn't an elevator to the upper levels!! I thought maybe she missed it or something, so I called and sure enough, there is NO ELEVATOR!

This isn't something that seems to bother many people, but I'm unsure how you'd get up and down the stairs with a stroller if your kid was sleeping in it!:headache:

I would request a lower floor, but if I didn't get one, no biggie. We stayed at the Anabella on the second floor and dh took the front and I took the back and carried, not really an issue. We are staying at the Park Vue with a stroller and are actually requesting the second floor as I just don't prefer ground floor and are bringing a 16 month old in a stroller.

The Pavilion Buildings at the HoJo are 2 stories with no elevator, we don't have a problem with it but we don't have a child in a stroller either.

That wouldn't bother me if it was only a few flights and the price was right for the hotel. What irked me was when we stayed at the PPH in January for 4 days and were forced to fold the stroller and take the stairs, because the elevators were always full!! Once out of pure stubborness I said I would wait just to see how long it took to get one. I gave up after the 8th elevator lol.

Park Vue is only 2 floors, so it's not a big deal. We've carried a sleeping toddler upstairs before. Also- breakfast is on the second floor there as well. We have a lightweight stroller that we carry easily up the stairs.

Yeah, no elevator can be a major problem when you have someone in an ECV (try lugging that thing upstairs) or a wheelchair. I'm always hesitant to stay in a hotel w/o elevators since room requests can't always be accommodated.

I generally carry my stroller downstairs (and sometimes up) b/c of elevator availability at Desert Inn (they have it, but it's often full). DH and my mom are stuck waiting on the elevator...

Totally understand about the wheel chair thing as it is much bigger and assuming it is an adult, much heavier. Just thought that as the poster was asking about strollers, we were talking about a child and one flight is really no big deal. Very easy to take a sleeping child up or down in the stroller.

There is no possible way I could have done this. I came back early each night with my sleeping 6 year old in the stroller and my nearly 2 year old wrapped to my back.

I would never have guessed that hotels didn't have elevators!

I hear ya, it's not for everyone, but it is very easy to do with a sleeping child in the stroller. They are so tired from the day , they barely wake up. Also, i 'm kind of surprised that anyone would think these motels would have elevators. Most motels don't, just hotels. Better to know before you go though if it's a deal breaker.

We always take the stairs if we are on the lower floors anyway, we are too impatient to wait for elevators. Now we just have one stroller aged child but we frequently carried a stroller up and down stairs while Dh or I wore an infant/toddler. We got used to it when we were stationed overseas and frequently the places we were visiting didn't have elevators.

That is because the Park Vue is a motel, not a hotel. Many of the places across the street on Harbor are motels, not hotels. If it is a motel, then often the rooms face the parking area and don't have an elevator.

We had a problem with this at the Candy Cane Inn, too. I knew they didn't have an elevator when I booked, but didn't think about how hard it was going to be for me to drag all of our suitcases and stuff up some scary, steep concrete stairs. It wasn't a pretty picture! I am about as uncoordinated as you can get, and kept feeling like I was going to end up at the bottom of the stairs in a heap.

DH has bad knees -- it would be a real struggle just to get himself up/down a flight of stairs, without any luggage. We've "graduated" to hotel with elevator status.

It's a motel, with outside corridors, not a hotel.

For the PPH elevator issue mentioned earlier, always make sure you're also trying the glass elevator (sits alone sort of in the middle of the lobby). While you can't use it to go *down* from all floors, you CAN use it to go UP to any floor. If you have a problem with heights, just walk in backwards and ignore the "view" behind you (and don't look to closely at the reflection in the door).

And if you have a big stroller, by all means fold that thing up and walk/carry your kids onto the elevator! On our last trip, we were in an elevator going down, and these two ladies with BIG strollers were so annoyed b/c there was no room for so many cars that had gone by...and they just rolled them in and squeezed us to the walls, complaining the whole time about the lack of room for them. OMG just fold the thing up and carry the kid; voila, more room in the elevator for you!

The Camelot has elevators (and outdoor corridors, as it happens). It's only a few doors further down than the Park Vue and cheaper too.

Wow! I had no idea! It 'shocked' me a bit actually.
We always stay at some of the cheapest motels like Super 8 etc. and the one on DL drive has an elevator.
I thought that motels like Park vue and Candy cane had an elevator. If it hadn't been way too exspensive I would have booked Park Vue for my last DL trip - and I had my 80-year old grandma in a wheelchair with me! That could had gone wrong! (but hey, thats also bad planning and research from my side!)

Park Vue Inn actually see themselves as a hotel.. On their website it says: "The Park Vue Inn is the*only hotel*across from*the Disneyland® Resort and* Disney California Adventure™ Park."
But actually I have no idea how to categorise motels vs hotels :D just saw it on their website when checking their rates... And wanted to share PV own openion on hotel/motel!

Generally, the difference is the way the rooms are accessed. Motel is short of "motor hotel", and motels usually have direct access from your car. (Parking outside the door, no inside hallways.) Hotels, you park in the parking lot and access your room from an inside hallway. Park Vue, by the normal definition, is a motel. Hojo's is a hotel. Fairfield is a cross. The ground floor can be accessed directly from your car, however, the other floors are accessed by entering the lobby and taking the elevator.

The Park Vue can state whatever they want, but if they are a hotel, so is Desert Inn and Suites, Tropicana, and every other motel on the strip.
