Park Ticket Savings for DVC Families with children 5-17

These classes look like SO much fun! When I was a kid I took a class from Disney about Nature. I still remember how much fun I had! We had a classroom portion, and then went out into the nature preserve area and onto Discovery Island. I hope they continue this, I would love for my DS to have the same amazing opportunity!

Just found an amazing way to save some money on our park tickets. Mods if this is in the wrong place feel free to move. Since we own DVC and don't purchase park tickets in packages through Disney, I am always looking for ways to save money on the largest ticket item for our trips. I stumbled across the Disney Yes Educational Program. You can sign up your kids for awesome educational classes and then purchase discounted park tickets for the whole family!

We are going to Disney World in August with our 4 kids ages 14, 12, 9, & 9. I was planning on buying 6 day MYW park tickets for the kids, and it would have been $940. My husband and I have AP's and don't need tickets.

I signed up the kids for a Disney Yes Educational Program and was able to buy 7 day Premium passes, that include 7 fun visits that can include water park passes, park hopping, water parks, and Disney Quest for $833! It was $194 per 7 day Premium Ticket. Plus we get to do a 3hr class on sound and energy at Magic Kingdom, and we get to go backstage at Haunted Mansion!

If you are looking into buying just tickets this is a gold mine of savings! It would have cost over $1400 for those same tickets! I could have bought tickets for my husband and I too at that price!

As DVC member we do this every year with our son and we have always had a great experience. If anyone has questions feel free to PM me

This is a great bit of information !
It's not just for DVC though ? I have friends (non Members) who would love this.

So if two of my kids have an AP can I sign them up for a class?? What about extra tickets for my other kids, do I just put them under adults? I guess I need to call tomorrow. Glad to read about this program. My kids will love it and it will save us alot of money. Has anyone tried to get more then 8 days? I was really hoping for 10 days but maybe with the water park tickets we would be fine.

It's open to anyone providing you have a child who fits the age range for particular class, you do not have to be a DVC member and do not even need to be staying onsite at WDW. There has been a very recent change which now limits the number of tickets a family can purchase when they sign a child up for an Individual Enrollment class : I don't recall exactly but I think it is limited to 4 tickets per family now, there's a thread over on Budget with posts in last pages discussing the new ticket limit.

As far as I know you cannot just sign up for Individual Enrollment class without YES park ticket purchase connected to it so you'd still have to purchase tickets through YES Program even if you have an AP for the adult and child participating ( for Florida residents that would be a 1 day ticket and for non-Florida residents it's a 3 day ticket that would need to be purchased ). 8 days is the maximum length on ticket but with Water Parks/Quest option added it can give you 16 days of options. Also, there's been a new policy on number of tickets a family can now purchase ( see above ); last I read it is 4 tickets per family.

***ETA - Ticket Limit seems to relate to how many children are in family, the amount of adult tickets that they will allow to be purchased cannot be greater than the number of children. It is best to call Disney's Youth Group for most up to date & complete information, they are very friendly and helpful with all inquiries. Good luck all !! It's a great program, our youngest DD & DNiece had a great time :)

Best wishes :)

Just signed up for our family of six (2 parents, 4 children) Saved a boatload of money. I cannot believe I didn't pay attention to all previous posts. THANKS to DISers and DISboards. YOU ROCK!!:cheer2:

I called today and we were able to sign up all 10 of us since it was immediate family. I did have to purchase the tickets for those of us that had AP's but we got the waterpark tickets with it and it saved the rest of us alot of money so it will be OK. Glad I read about this program again! My kids are excited about the two classes they are going to attend.

I am so glad so many families are taking advantage of this. I received our tickets in the mail, I still can't believe we saved $575 on our park tickets!!! We were able to add hoppers and water parks because of the savings. I would have never splurged for those add ons.

Does anyone know when they list the dates for each year. I want to look at June 2012. Do the dates stay around the same time each year. We are going early June and I know our kids would love this.

I don't know, but call the YES program number (they open on Monday) and ask. I'm sure they know when the program dates open.

Many thanks for the info.

We didn't know if this would work for us being form the UK but it did. Unbelieveable saving on tickets and DD can't wait.

Many thanks again.

Does anyone know if they will open up anymore classes for October? I will call but there is only 2 programs available for when we will be down there from oct 16-23. The ocean one was closed. i really wanted that one but did sign them up for the arts and production class on the 21st though. Will they let a kid who is a little younger still join in? it says from 11-15 and it let me sign up my youngest who will be 9. Loved the ticket prices.
