Park Ticket questions

I believe there is a savings to be had if you buy park passes ahead of time rather than at WDW after you arrive -- can someone confirm? If so, how much is the savings?

If I buy them ahead of time, can the passes be then transferred onto my KTTW card after I get there? We're staying with DVC members, so not on a package where passes would be part of the deal. So, we'll get KTTW cards when we get there and I'm wondering if we'll be able to then put the park passes onto those cards if we buy them ahead of time?

Yup, there is a discount if you buy tickets online or from the Disney Store in advance. It's normally about 5% - see a complete list of prices here:

You can also find even lower prices at ticket brokers. I have used TicketMania myself numerous times and love their service and prices, and recently UndercoverTourist has become very popular among DISers. HINT: Subscribe to the MouseSavers monthly email newsletter - it includes ticket specials even lower than the regularly discounted rates at either TicketMania or UndercoverTourist.

You can easily get your passes coded onto the KTTW cards when you check in. However, I always advise people against it, because KTTW card tend to have more problems with demagnetizing than the Tyvec or plastic passes you get by advance purchase. If your KTTW card demagnetizes, you have to go all the way back to your resort to get a new one issued, which can be a royal pain if you're standing at one of the park gates and it won't let you in because your KTTW card demagnetized.
