Park Reservations can now be modified - but only for AP holders with non-Resort reservations?

Hi all,

Posted this on the TPAS forum this morning with no responses (am sure it got lost in the shuffle with all the Genie updates :) Hoping a fellow DVC-er might have info on this? From what I read on another forum, it has been reported that if you use the Disney website (vs the app) you now can modify park reservations which is very helpful. Meaning you can change park reservations without having to cancel the original (and taking the chance of not getting the new one).

However the post I read said this is only working for AP holders, but not for resort guests. Why would this be? We head down in two weeks and would really like to be able to have this ability to modify if needed! I have an AP, but made park reservations as a Resort guest and most of my family has regular hopper tickets.

Appreciate any confirmation or information on this.

Well - I was just on the website and did not see any option to modify (I'm an AP holder and resort guest). I was trying to change a Christmas week reservation from HS to EP - admittedly probably not going to run out of spots in the next 24-48 hours, BUT - everything on the site pointed me to canceling HS first and then making the EP reservation. Except when I went to make the EP reservation it wouldn't allow me to book any dates past 12/20? (And I have reservations all the way through 1/2/2022 EXCEPT for this one day I canceled). Mostly I am supremely annoyed and don't want to wait on the phone with a phone call.

(and there is a different button for AP holder with a resort reservation, separate from AP holder alone, and neither one works.)
GRRRRR

(tl; dr: I was unable to modify, and also unable to book a new res after canceling the previous one)

Well I did just go in and cancel & rebook for myself and my sister for 2 of our dates in November on the website (not App) but process has definitely changed! I couldn’t do hers and mine together (as I have in the past) as I have an AP and she has a regular park hopper ticket. It made me book hers as as a theme park ticket and gave no option as a resort guest (even though her previous one was booked as a resort guest). And it made me book mine as an AP holder, and yes I had to choose as an AP with a resort reservation (vs just as an AP holder) It’s really messed up!

I believe I saw this original report about ability to modify posted by Amy Krieger in the DVC Fan Facebook page. She is a moderator of that page. She said for her AP park reservations she could now modify, but for her Resort park reservations she could not. Makes no sense. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Sorry it’s giving you trouble as well. It’s going to be a bumpy ride for awhile I’m afraid. I’ve heard some folks have had luck with the chat feature on MDE, but with this being “Genie crazy week“ it might be hard to get a response. Good luck!

I wonder if you're AP without a resort stay, if you can modify, but not otherwise. ??

Well, I figured it out. This is what happens when I am a) out of touch with the NEW Disney planning, and b) tired. I was trying to book under the wrong AP because we got a renewal that starts up after the first one. First world problems, I know.

Yes, very annoying that an AP w/a pass linked to a resort reservation it is not possible to modify (why, who knows). We have a long trip coming up during Christmas and we were in limbo with where we were going to stay at one point so I made regular AP reservations for those days and sure enough I could modify them w/o cancelling. But the ones I linked to the resort stay could only be cancelled and re-booked.

Honestly, I thought they were trying to encourage people to stay on site. This seems so counterintuitive to their strategy!
