For the first time since 2001 we will not be taking our annual vacation to WDW this year. We made this decision after being invited to a wedding 2,000 miles from home and realizing that it would be a budget buster to still squeeze Disney in. Since making that decision I find myself every couple days trying to make the numbers work. But after listening to last week's Park Rehab podcast I think taking this year off won't be an entirely bad thing to do. I really appreciated the play-by-play that Kathy gave (I find her emotions often are similar to my own) really made me see that maybe waiting until the lion share of changes are completed next year would be a good thing for us.

Is there anyone else out there that was on the fence (for whatever reason) about a 2012 visit and decided not to based-off the numerous rehabs taking place in the MK?

We were going to make a trip this summer. However we decided to hold off a year. First of all, other than Dumbo there would be no new attractions to see. Secondly, my daughter LOVES Ariel and the new attraction isn't expected to open until fall and the Little Mermaid portion of The Art of Animation resort willl not be opened until at least December. Lastly, Test Track (one of our favorites) will be closed thos summer. I still would love to go, but my practical side won!

I hope I didn't scare you away from visiting WDW this year. I was being honest about what was going on so that everyone could make the decision if they should visit.

Absolutely not scared away. If anything, it gave me some peace of mind. I can wait the additional months now knowing that the payoff will be worth it.

I wasn't scared away at all. If anything - I was reassured. It actually doesn't seem like there are that many attactions closed when we are going (2/11 to 2/17). At least out of the ones that matter to us - the preschool set. Mainly Dumbo and I have already had several chats with DD-3 about that. She even figured out that Aladdin would be quite similar by herself.

I am hoping we are able to just look past the construction and enjoy the parks. Too bad for my wallet that I suspect this will just mean we need to do another trip once it is all done.
