Park opening times?

The website lists the park opening time for DL as 9:00 and DCA as 10:00 when we visit in early June. Are the times listed pretty accurate or do they ever open earlier? I was really surprised to see most of the time we're there DCA is only open from 10:00-6:00. Yikes!

Over Easter I found if Disneyland listed opening at 8 it opened at 8. But I did notice our last day, as we took the monorial to DTD that DCA appeared to open early. It was set to open at 10 but at 9:30 there were many people/guests in the park.

It must depend on the day. The few times I've been there right at opening most of the time we didn't even go through the turnstiles until it opening time. Two times they opened it so we could go on Main Street, but that was it and at the official time we could go to the other areas.

opening times are pretty accurate--they usually allow you to enter both parks early in the shopping areas but not into the "attraction areas"--but times are always subject to change. see my post "June Visitors-Take note of park hours" as an example.

If a park opens at 9am or later, there is a possibility that the turnstiles will open 1/2 an hour early. In DL this gains you access to Main Street, and then there's a "rope drop" at the official park opening time giving you access to the rest of the park. When you get this 30 min. "head start" it's a great time to grab stroller or wheelchair rentals, or to secure a locker.

In DCA if they pre-open the turnstiles they'll have rope drops into the various lands that are off the main plaza (i.e. Hollywood Backlot).
