Park hours?

Just out of curiosity I looked at August and September's park hours- they aren't showing yet ofcourse but then I looked back at June & July and isn't it odd that the parks aren't opening until 9am every day?

I thought summer were longer hours? And non-peak time periods were shorter hours? But they were opening at 7 or 8am during those times in my (albeit limited) experience. Why are they opening so late?

And if that is the case for June & July- what should I expect for end of August and beginning September? Opening at 11am?

I have never known of Disney opening their parks earlier than 9:00 A.M. You can get into the parks one hour early on specific days of the week for each park if you are staying onsite. I have also heard of opening thirty minutes early during holiday periods to distribute guests thoughout the park to relieve long lines on entering. I think the hours will be pretty normal for the rest of the year unless something else major happens. I am also one of those people that thinks June hours will improve as we get closer to that time period.

I e-mailed WDW to express my displeasure of the hours in June, and this is the e-mail I received today:

Occasionally, seasonal adjustments are made based on actual Guest demand; however, it is always our goal to provide a quality "show" for our Guests.

If you have questions or need further assistance, feel free to contact us.

Thank you!"

Who knows? Keep checking the hours! They may change based on our attempt to lengthen them.

What?? You've never heard of them opening before 9am? Well, I've only been twice- once around Christmas time and once late January (non-peak time) and they were open at 8. I distinctly remember rushing up there at 7:30 on Christmas morning and the place already being packed when we got there. LOL

I wonder if you are thinking about Main Street opening earlier. They had always opened up Main Street an hour before the rides - until 9/11 anyway. Has that changed? I know in August they were not doing it but I vaguely remember they had started again.

And yes, I also believe AK did open at 8AM!

Just a bump to see if anyone knows whether the shops on Main Street are now opening earlier.

We were there in November 2002 and they weren't open until after the official ceremony. It would be great if they returned to opening the shops earlier (and they could make some more $$$$).
