Park Hopping with Disney ECV

You cannot hop from park to park with it but you can take your reciept and IF, and this is a big if, there is one available at the second park you will not have to pay again. Best bet is to rent from offsite so you are guaranteed an ECV when you need it.

Availability later in the day (ie when you are not among the very first people into the park) is something I would be very concerned about. Can you plan so as to not hop? If not, I would seriously consider renting from off site. In addition to always being available, the offsite ECVs are also easier to drive.

I agree with everyone above, but would add that when you turn your ECV in, the CM will ask if you're going directly to another park and, if so, will call ahead to have one held for you. We've gone in August the past few years, and the CMS have been very kind in this way.

Thanks for the help. Unfortunately, my mother-in-law does not want to shell out the money to rent one off site. She says she wants to wing it and see how she is feeling each day. She has a bulging disk in her back as well as a hip problem, but doesn't have constant pain with either. She is afraid she will be wasting money if she rents one and doesn't need it. I told her there was a good chance that there would be none if she waited till the last minute, but I guess that's a chance she is willing to take. We will be there Oct. 6-10. Hopefully the crowds will be light enough that all will work out. Thanks again everyone.:D

From what I have read, often all the ecvs are gone form a park pretty quickly after opening, so the chance of getting one later in the day if she decides she needs one then or if you park hop is pretty iffy.
During October, it should probably not be that busy though, so you may get lucky. If there are no ecvs, you should at least be able to get a wheelchair.

I know that Walker, and possibly the others, can deliver an ECV on a few hours notice, although they prefer to be able to plan ahead. Once your MIL has tried one, she will probably become a convert. An off-site rental costs the same as Disney charges, but it is available all the time and costs less than Disney's for more than six days.

You might want to do a mild guilt trip on her, how her being comfortable will make it easier on everyone in the whole group. Also, pushing a wc can be very difficult if not used to it. Additionally, use of an ECV wuill give her the freedom she needs.
