So we are coming to WDW 8/26-9/1, staying at POP, 6 day park hopper tickets and booked the free dining package through Disney. We would like to come back in Spring 2018 and thus thinking about upgrading to an Annual Pass. I have searched the boards for the past 2 hours and feel pretty comfortable, but just would like to confirm/ask a few specific things.

August 2017 trip:
Our ADR's and FP+ won't be affected?
Should I upgrade to AP inside the park or outside at the ticket window?
Are there AP options or just the Platinum for $779 (not interested in water parks)?
Do I get credited for the Memory Maker I paid $149 for?
Will our Magic Bands be affected?
Is our QS free dining affected?

Spring 2018 trip:
Assuming staying on-site, we can book FP+ 30 days out?

I am also upgrading to an AP and was wondering if it's better to do so at a park or Disney springs.

I would upgrade anywhere I could without a long wait. If you get in the night before, go to DS or one of the parks and do it outside the park, so you're ready to go the next day. If you get in on same day, I'd hit guest relations on my way OUT of the park that day and do it.

Not sure about credit for memory maker, but if you know for sure you want to upgrade, can you cancel the MM now and get the money back?

Hoping someone who really knows comes along, but if you're staying ONSITE, it shouldn't matter what type of ticket you have to make FP+ at 60 days. I think the AP 30 days is only for those who aren't staying onsite; i.e. they live in Orlando or close by.

I was thinking of doing something similar. If I were to purchase an AP before my trip in November would I get my magic band before my actual trip or would I get a voucher and have to switch it over once I got to the parks?

Yes, onsite guests with AP's can book 60 days out, like MYW ticket guests.

It gets a little more confusing if you have a combination of onsite and off-site days. (Offsite AP users only get a rolling 7 days of FP+ at 30 days..and onsite counts against that 7)
but on-site AP FP+ is straight forward

And you might want the AP sooner rather than later for merchandise discounts. But I generally wait for an afternoon, leaving the park to go back to the resort to upgrade.

Are you staying on-site and/or have an existing Magic Band? If so, those Magic Bands work fine for AP admission. There is never any ticket attached to a Magic Band..Magic Bands just unlock any entitlement (like tickets, photopass...) in your MDE account.

I think AP vouchers do not unlock the MB customization until activated..but some people get lucky and can order the MB earlier.

Doesn't matter.
Just be sure to KNOW, in advance, exactly how much the upgrade should cost.
That way you'll know if the CM is doing everything correctly before you accept the deal.
