Park Hopper vs Base Tickets

How about getting a 7 day base ticket and using the extra day for the day you want to park hop? It would save a little.

You can't do that. You cannot use 2 "days" in one day. That's why they're called "days" and not "entries."

I'm so glad I found this thread because I've been having this exact discussion with my husband. Can I still drop park-hoppers if our trip is paid off? I am not sure we will yet, but just in case?

Without Park Hopper you would need another park admission to enter a second park in the same day.

Yes, the CM was definitely wrong.

Had you attempted it, you would not have been able to get into the second park.

For us PH'ing works. HS and AK are not full days for us, so we usually head to MK or EP for a couple of hours or dinner after our time at HS and AK. Also, like PP said, there are days that we might decide to switch because of crowding in one park, or spend the morning at one and the afternoon at another because it's our last day and we want to split to redo a few rides at each.

In your case, I think I would drop the PH and see if you really need it when you are there, you can always upgrade at that time.

That would require buying a completely separate ticket, which is much more expensive than adding park hopping.
