Park Hopper Question

My niece is planning on being in the Disneyland area next month with her 3 children, and would like to spend some time at the parks. She is planning on purchasing a 2 day park hopper, and wonders if she has to use them on consecutive days. They will arrive late on a Wednesday night, and would like to use the hopper on Thursday, and then do other stuff in So Cal on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday and use the last day on the hopper on Tuesday. Is that allowed?
