I feel like such an idiot for asking this, but I've honestly never thought about it or heard it asked before....

Are you allowed to just buy extra single park tickets instead of buying Park Hopper ones? We are going to be in the parks for 8 days but only plan to "Hop" on 2 of them. Can we just buy 10 One-Day tickets and use 2 a day on those two days we plan to hop?

That would be a LOT cheaper and a pretty crazy loophole if they allow it, so I doubt they do. I just can't find the answer out there for some reason.

I'm not sure where you saw that single day tickets are cheaper than an 8 day park hopper.

One 8 day ticket with Park hopper in June: $677.56 with tax
10 single day park tickets (one park per day) in June: $1384.50 with tax

I chose a random month but longer tickets will always be less per day than single day tickets, even with Parkhopper. The added cost for a park hopper is a flat charge, not a per day charge.

No, they do not allow this. If you go to two parks on one day you have to have a hopper, it will not let you use an "extra" day on your 10 day pass.

Disney's been ahead of this "loophole" for years. :) The answer is no. You must have a Park Hopper if you want to visit two or more parks in a day.

I could have sworn way back during our family trip in '92 with the tickets at that time, this could have been done. But that was also way back before electronic tickets.

Still, the PH option is like a flat $85 (or thereabouts) for a ticket over 4 days. No way you'll be buying 2 extra days for less than that.

The OP wasn't asking about buying a 10 day pass and using two entries on the same day, they were asking about buying 10 single day tickets. I don't think they can close that loophole because you're using two totally separate tickets to gain entry to two parks. COST wise it's not logical because it's far more expensive than just buying a multi day ticket with parkhopper.

Thinking a bit more on the OP's situation, a different loophole, depending on your exact plans, might be to just buy a 6 day, non PH ticket, and a 2 day PH ticket, for your 8 days. That way, you're only incurring the extra PH cost on the 2 day ticket. But, I think the PH is only like $75 for the 2 day ticket, so at most, you're only looking at a savings of about $10 vs just putting the PH on the whole 8 days.

Once you link the tickets to yourself in MDE you can't use them on the same day. I'm sure you could think of a few workarounds. But it's hard to make the math work.

I got curious (and I love reasons to look at the disney website lol).

8 day PH in June: $677.56
6 day non hopper plus 2 day PH: $543.28+$349.58 = $892.86 incl tax

Still $200 cheaper to just buy an 8 day park hopper for the same time frame.

You have to remember that you're NOT just paying the added PH cost - a ticket for fewer days is more expensive per day than one with more days. You're also paying the additional per day cost for buying a shorter ticket.

1. Yes. (But that would be an unwise waste of a lot of extra money.)
2. Yes. (But that would be an unwise waste of a lot of extra money.)
3. No. (Not even a little bit.) It is THE most expensive way of buying tickets at WDW.
4. No "loophole" involved.
You can use as many "stand alone" tickets as you like in a day.
(But that would be an unwise waste of a lot of extra money.)

1. Yes. (And, again, it's not really a "loophole" as it is simply not a restriction in the first place.)
2. Yes. This.
