Can Anyone recommend a nice hotel at The Richmond, VA airport that has a Park & Fly package. This will be our first time using RIC but Airtran had nonstop fares we could not resist. Thanks.
Sshhhhhh - RIC is our little secret. It's out of the way for us - we live a lot closer to Washington National and Dulles- but its such an easy airport navigate because it's so small. Because of its size there are fewer flights so the atmosphere isn't nearly as hectic as it is at larger airports and it didn't take us long to check in, clear security, or to claim our luggage when we returned. And instead of a long hike to a gate, it was more like a short stroll.
The last time we flew out of RIC we had an early morning flight, so we drove down the night before and stayed at the Homewood Suites (

They offer a free hot buffet breakfast, and light dinner Mon. through Thur. They share a parking lot with a Pizzaria Uno's that is only a few steps from the front door. We had a one bedroom suite; two-bedroom suites are also offered. Our suite was clean and well kept, and came equipped with two queen-sized beds, one TV in the bedroom and one in the living area, a full-size refrigerator, microwave, 2-burner stove, sink and even plates and some utinsels. Staff was very friendly and happy to give me an extra shampoo and conditioner so I wouldn't have to pull my own out of my luggage the next morning.
Full disclosure - my main reason for choosing Homewood was because I got a discount there. There are other hotels in the area around the airport that probably have service and amenities that is on par with Homewood (

I don't recall if Park and Fly was available at Homewood, but I think it is. However, I used airport parking. The economy lot is $7/day, and all I did was drop my DSis and our luggage at the terminal, park on the economy lot and then catch a shuttle back to the terminal. Shuttles run frequently. The whole process probably took about 15-20 minutes. I suggest you compare using a Park and Fly rate at a hotel vs. parking at the airport to determine which option is less expensive.
