Park ECV and Walk or Ride through the line?

Reading Bill's thread about his letter to WDW and the unequal access at many of the rides has me really wondering what to do about my upcoming trip.

I am going in Nov and it will be my first time in an ECV. I can transfer to the rides--I am mobile, it is just painful. Using the spoon theory, the more lines I walk through on my own, the more quickly I will use up my spoons. But I am wondering if I need to figure out what rides I should just park and walk for.

I will be with a group of friends so I DO NOT want to hold them up in any way. I want to have equal access. I was hoping to just stay with the ECV until the front of the line and then there would be somewhere to park it and retrieve it after the line. Standing still in lines is very hard on me and also inclining ramps like some of the lines have are extremely painful.

So judging from what I read I need to just park and walk for Safari at AK (that is a long walk :guilty: ). What other rides or shows will I have a problem with longer waits if I choose to stay in my ECV, but still transfer to the attraction?

:scared: This will be my first WDW trip with an ECV. You have the same concerns I do. Where do you park the ECV when you can walk into the rides? We leave in 3 weeks. Any ideas? Thanksprincess:

I am pretty sure you can just park the ECV with the stroller parking. Just take your key with you. I have seen lots of ECV's parked outside the rides in those areas. I am going to bring some ponchos to cover it in case of rain while it is parked outside. Someone also suggested bringing shower caps to cover the control box in case of rain so I need to get some of those from the Dollar Store.

Many attractions you cannot see the queue from outside because they are either inside or only part may be seen from outside the staart of the queue.

Quick thoughts would include Everest, Dinosaur, Nemo, Soarin, Tower of Terror, Space Mountain, Philharmagic, Safari, Crush, Test Track, Mission Space, Great Movie Ride, Star Tours, Pirates.

Generally I would suggest staying in the ECV as much as possible. Most of the attractions I have listed above you can park the ECV right at the boarding area.

Cheshire, some of the responses to Bill Sears post with his letter to WDW seemed to indicate that even if I said that I was going to transfer to the ride vehicle or attraction/show seat they might still divert me to a wheelchair line rather than just letting me stay in the regular line and get on and off quickly and easily, and delay my party longer than the regular walk on guests. I really don't want to do that to my friends.

It seemed that they said this happens at at Safari and some of the other attractions you mentioned. Do you have any insight on this?

Anyone else?

Hi love!

I am also an ECV user and I would never be able to walk the line for the Safari.

While I cannot say if you and your party will have to wait or not, what I can say is that this is a vacation for all of you. I doubt than anyone in your party would rather you be in pain so that they can potentially have quicker ride access.

I would suggest that you speak openly with your trip companions before the day of departure. The truth is that sometimes you may have to wait... and is that a concern if they are in the "longer line" because of your ECV?

Chances are that if faced with a decision of you having to walk or them waiting, they would opt for waiting... You could even say that if it is a long wait that they should just go ahead, and I bet that they would still opt to wait.

Please do not stress over the what if's... instead maybe plan on going to the queue's of any potential problem rides first to avoid lines, whenever possible, instead of visiting the attractions as you would naturally get to them in the natural flow of the park layout.

I also carry a Pal Micky with me and he tells me when the ride wait times are low... which may be a help... plus he's cute. ;)

Take a few deep breaths and plan on an enjoyable vacation!

Take care.

I have used ECV at all trips to Disney. Approach the line for whatever ride you want to ride on. The ECV will fit in all of them. When you get to a certain point, a CM will let you know what you need to do. Anyone that is with you will go with you and be allowed access just like you. They won't have to wait without you. You won't have to wait without them. Disney is VERY good about accommodating ECV and WC riders. Don't worry. You'll have a great time.
