On our recent trip we got a scooter, wheel chair, stroller and 5 of us on the bus. A back pack got placed on the floor under the seat by the wheel chair we folded. As we all got off the bus last, and left no one realized the "bag" was left on the bus until we got through bag check. OMG, the Canon $$$ camera, Lenses, all the medications, PANIC

We sent someone back to the bus drop to hope for help where the bus may have gone and ask to look for the bag....
What a surprize to see him still sitting there with his supervisor. They felt we would run back after we got to bag check.

How wonderful our day was not ruined. If all the meds in the bag had been sent to the lost and found and hrs later finally retrive it, if it even had been not taken  But our bus driver saved the day!
I wish we got his name, but we did tell the supervisor how important the bag was and to have it with us. His driver was amazing and he also for not sending the bag to lost and found that we would have to wait for hours and hunt it down. pixiedust:

On the other hand, not a bus driver but someone at the bus stop at the end of the day was so ignorant. We took the scooter, wheel chair and stroller through the main Queue, my dd was taking to a young girl from Tennesse in front of us as we went through. When we got to the Handicap chain at the front with everyone else, the father opened the chain for us to go out. We did not expect to all get on, knew we would have to wait. But, this loud bouserious man told me to take the chairs and go back to the end of the line for cutting. I There was no more waiting area for handicap access. I explained to him we had gone through the line and was our turn, we did not all expect to fit but that the wheel chair and stoller would have to go, dh on scooter would wait for the next bus. THe man flipped at me embarrasing us that he told me to get to the back of the line. I pointed to the family and the father must have stated we were in line with them, and let the folded wheel chair and folded stroller on, but would not take the stroller. even though the seating was up available. he said it was needed for people waiting in line.

I was flustered. I had spent three days waiting for three buses to take us, One bus did not have a ramp, two others were already loading with people, we had now waited for almost an hour as this man refused us entry. I was not getting to the back of the line!
When we left the HS, the bus driver got off his bus and apologised that we were not visable to him in the line, to wait up front. There was another family there and offered that we go first as we had gone through the long line for a few buses already. I told her that was kind, but after almost getting thrown to the back of a line at MK, we learned to just stay in the main queue no matter how long it took.
After this visit, I was wondering if it just wasn't easier to use the rental van no matter how difficult to in and out of MK.

Who was this loud boisterous man anyway? Another guest doesn't have the right to tell me what to do.

If the bus that is supposed to take you (for example you got up to the on deck circle in timely and orderly fashion) is unable to but can take other more agile guests behind you, the driver should radio for another bus to get there very much ahead of schedule. Otherwise it is fair game for Guest Relations.

I am so sorry this happened to you. Please contact Guest Relations about your experience, things will not change unless we let WDW know about these issues.

I'm thrilled to hear about that bus driver....the vast majority of them are wonderful!!!
But, now I'm confused. Since when don't they have a place for mobility challenged people to stand and wait??? If you needed a bus with a working ramp, then it's safe to assume that you would need your 'vehicles' to be tied down...so why would anyone tell you to 'wait in the line'...much less go to the end of the line? Was this a CM?? This must be a very new change....and one that just isn't going to work. There is no way for a bus driver to know who in the line is going to need those tie down areas...and what the heck is supposed to happen when the bus is getting full, you've waited your turn, but there are people on those 'reserved' seats, but they are fussing about getting up and now having to stand?
Guess I'll be doing some more research in Dec..this just sounds dopey to me. But that won't be the first time.

There is no longer a deck, we went through the line, just the family was being kind to open the chain so we could be seen for this bus pulling in. I only wish I was not so drained physically to have gotten his name.

It is a long day with one disabled person, there are three, and add to itmy own pain, then to have guardzilla make a fool of us.

The concern was there were more families behind us with chairs or scooters, how long would they wait too...
Oh and we wanted a ride on the train over to fantasy land, the family in front of us had to break down their scooter, I folded and lifted the wheel chair, my dh decided I could not break down scooter and rode it to meet us, I took dgs, and son pushed his stroller to meet us.

The car in front of us was empty, access ably to a scooter, wheelchair, or accessible stroller to be put on, why would they not let families use it?
Getting to physical to do this anymore.

I have been in the bus line for Pop at MK, where the line was so long that they "closed" the handicap line and had them go through the regular line like the hundreds of other people waiting in line.

OP- Sorry this happened to you. :headache: There's always one person to ruin the evening, and almost ruin the rest of your vacation.

I've seen the queue issue for scooters enough times at peak load periods to wonder why Disney hasn't sorted this out. I had made the suggestion at Guest Services a few times that they consider dedicated minibuses for scooters and guests in their party to handle peak periods and to also provide single purpose vehicles where scooters and some of the more complicated electric wheelchairs could be more quickly loaded than on the kneeling buses.

Rude people in line will never get it, so its not worth trying to justify yourself to them. I hope you had enough magical moments to offset this one.

For dedicated single purpose vehicles for wheelchairs and scooters, most likely more than two dozen of them will be needed.

And the wheelchairs and scooters will still have to be tied down one at a time.

Disney does need to decide whether it wants to go capital intensive (buy the special purpose vehicles) or labor intensive (properly manage the existing buses).

Part of the problem is that the rest of the family of a person in a wheelchair pushes its way onto the bus. The rest of the family should stay and wait in the regular line. This exacerbates the labor intensive nature of the existing system.
