We booked flights out of Detroit with SW to Orlando for our August trip. I have been searching for hotels close to the airport but the information they provide is very limited regarding whether there is complimentary shuttle and parking (some say complimemtary parking for 7 days but we're going for nine--ten if you include the night we stay in the hotel). Now some claim (i.e. Westin) there is complimentary shuttle and parking but have a much higher rate for their park and fly option--which tells me it's not complimentary. Others either give info about free parking or shuttle but don't give information about parking and shuttle. Am I to assume that if there is free shuttle then parking is free as well???

I am just kicking myself for not waiting now to fly out of Buffalo which is much closer (we live just outside Toronto). Out of Buffalo there are several hotels that offer complimentary shuttle, parking and buffet breakfast included in the price. Today DH found flights out of Buffalo (United--though when we checked the other night this flight option was not available) for our date for the same price as the "Ding Deal" I got out of Detroit. I guess we're stuck (sorry just my little rant--I'm angry at DH for just rubbing in the I told you so). :confused3 :rotfl: :badpc:

Anyway has anyone flown out of Detroit and done the park and fly?

I checked all the hotels on www.park-and-fly-hotels.com and the best i could find for length of parking stay was 8 nights. I do believe however that they will sell you additional nights at many hotels if you are staying longer. You would probably have to call each hotel to verify this though.

I agree with smart cookie, I would call and verify with each hotel.

When flew out of metro in 2002, we booked the Marriott Courtyard for $35 through Priceline and they had complimentary parking (I think for 7 days).

Good luck, I'm sure you will be able to work something out.

We normally fly out of Detroit on Northwest and we always use Qwik Park-
They have a La Quinta right there in front of the parking lot- they are running a special rate of $79.95 per day and you get 8 days parking free. The shuttles work very well and have always been timely for us. Infact, we'll be using them next week for our trip to Texas! 1-888-844-PARK www.qwikpark.com. Hope this helps.

I am going to second travelin' girls suggestion about the La Qunita and qwikpark. I know that NWA uses that hotel for it's flight crews. We fly out of DTW 9 or 10 times a year and use qwik-park and their shuttle stops at the hotel there. Everyone seems to be pleased with the place. It is located on Merriman Road.

Best wishes and have a safe trip.

The Westin is a great deal if you only need 8 days of parking, and are leaving on either a Saturday or Sunday morning. Rates around $120, which includes valet parking, and it's attached to WorldGateway. If you need more days of parking, though, you pay them at valet rates (around $30/day).

it had free shuttles, free cont. breakfast, free parking for trips of 7 days(I think), the indoor pool was pretty nice and they also had a hot tub. I'll lookto see if I still have the phone#. I think we paid around $90 for the night.
