So I've got a Paris guide, and it's great, but what, besides the obvious (Eiffel Tower, Louvre, etc.) do I just have to see in Paris? Pretty much anything history interests me.. How should I execute seeing all of these sights in two days? Any local tips I must know? I know a lot of museums/monuments close on Monday or Tuesday, but don't know any other secrets. Can you guys help me out? I'll be in Paris for almost 3 days.

Also, anyone have any food recommendations? I'm going to stow this thread away in my subscriptions, as I have many other threads on here. I'm starting my planning early, just bought a guide book for a few bucks online, so I'm excited to get started! Thanks for all the help! Planning this trip all around me is going to be simply amazing

You will not be able to see everything in 2/3 days so don't even try ;)

Look through your guidebook, decided what is unmissable for you and come back with the list and I'll have a look at making you an itinerary :goodvibes

Food wise - what do you like, what would you like to try, what budget are we talking about etc etc ?

Restaurants come and go so what is good now might not be in 2 years and prices keep on going up so take that into account.

Do you know which hotel you will stay at in Paris as there could be some good finds or not food wise in your neighbourhood ?

No! I wish I knew wish hotel I was staying at, but it's just too far out. I've got a few ideas where I WANT to stay, and stay on my budget. I think my budget for a meal is around probably £12 max, hope that gives you an idea. I want to try just about anything. I'm not a picky eater at all to be honest. So give me your best recommendations.

Neighborhoods I want to stay in are either Faubourg St-German, Latin Quarter, or Champs-Élysées. My last option would Marais or Bastille. Where do you recommend staying? I want to get an idea where would be best on an average budget, but still good enough to be close enough to some sights.

£12 or 12 Euros ? Either one is not going to get you very far especially in those neighbourhoods.

Even a simple baguette sandwich from a bakery in the center can be around 4.5€, a croissant 1€50, cake 3€, can of coke 2€ - that's ok if you are going to picnic but if the weather is bad or you want to sit down inside some where and eat hot food you will be paying more than 12€ for a main course.

The CE is a rip off in terms of eating places, hotels are amongst the highest prices and their isn't anything to do except shop in chain store shops and luxury brands.

The Latin Quarter is vast and you can find bargains both in hotels and food but it's not gourmet by any means at that price.

Fbg St Germain ?? Do you mean Fbg St Honoré or Bld St Germain ?

If it's the first it's even dearer than the CE but has more class, only designer shops and lot's of embassies.

If it's the 2nd it's part of what tourists call the Latin Quartier.

Le Marais is becoming more designer and less traditionel. It's losing its Jewish identity for example.

It's also becomming more and more spread out

Bastille is not so tourist central but in 2 years who knows..at the moment there are so good places around there.

I think you will have to up your budget and watch how the $ does against the € to see 6 months before you come where is good and where you will get the best value for money :goodvibes

Lol I meant Euros.. Ok I will stretch the budget a bit. But I'm not going to budget until I get closer to the actual date. My parents for paying for the trip, so I'll get with them on that. I think that's possible to stretch for a good sit down meal. You never said.. What are some recommendations from you for what neighborhoods to stay in?

I don't really want to shop except at street markets because they are unique. I could careless about actual shops, I'm only going there for the actual history. I don't see much point of shopping when I only have a few days.

Ok here are my top 25 places right now CC. I plan on getting to Paris at about 10 am one morning and then staying two nights, leaving the third day in evening then heading to Disney. Do you think that's a good plan? Or should I spend three nights in Paris?

1. Eiffel Tower
2. Museé de Louvre
3. Hotel des Invalides
4. Catedrale de Notre Dame de Paris. 5. Champs-Elysees
6. Arc de Triomphe
7. Musee d'Orsay
8. Cruise on the Seine (evening)
9. Sainte-Chapelle
10. Tour Montparnasse (with Paris Pass)
11. Luxembourg Palace & Gardens
12. Eglise St. Sulpice
13. Basiliquede Sacré Coeur
14. Pont Alexandre III
15. Grand Palais
16. Palais Garnier (Opera house especially)
17. Place de Vosges
18. Palais Royal
19. Museé Picasso
20. Hotel de Ville
21. Museé Rodin
22. Parc de Monceau
23. Pont Neuf
24. Museé Carnavalet
25. The Museé Grévin

What do you think of these spots? How would you go about doing them in approx. 3 days. Where would you recommend staying? How long do you think I should spend in each museum, I've got about 4 on the list but only 2 (Orsay and Louvre) that I HAVE to see. Thanks for the help!

FYI. I've got a lot of these places already mapped out on a Paris map I got with my book, which was very helpful in memorization and visualization.

Ok so I'm thinking I'm just going to spend a full week in Paris whether than try to hit Paris, London, and DLP in 8 days. So now I'm planning a daytrip to Versailles and trying to hit all of those places about in 5.5 days (almost all of one day in Versailles) and then going to DLP for 2.5 days. What do you guys think? Anything I can/should add to the list? What kind of time should I be spending in each museum?

I'm no expert on Paris by any stretch, but can just say as an average tourist who has been there a few times, I adore Sacre Coeur. The view of Paris is amazing and I love then walking aroung Montmartre after.

Versailles is just lovely. If you can manage to go on the day they run the fountains I found the experience to be totally different than going on a day when they are not running. It's been many years ago for me, but I want to say they run them on Sundays.

Enjoy your trip!
